I stand corrected. That being said, is gaia really slowly dying? I mean mana is disappearing and making room for... something else? But won't the planet still keep on existing?

There's no certainty that that is the case, but in the world of Notes (the Type-Moon property that most likely gives us the "Liner" in this series' title), a very similar thing happened (functionally identical, actually), and Gaia not only died, but did everything she could to make sure humanity wasnt far behind, including calling upon "outside forces".

Not just Notes, to be honest. Gaia has a trackrecord through the whole nasuverse of hysterically hating humanity.

Spoiler for NasuverseLore:

When you think about it master trolling on Gil-kun's part.

He said Julian needs two grails. Not mentioning Illya and Kuro are half a cup each making one cup. Even if he gets both Illya and Miyu that is a one and a half cup of wish granting devices.

Does "the math" REALLY work like that, though? I mean isn't Kuro little more than a class card given personality. She can't even exist if she isn't given mana regularly.

The mere fact she didn't disappear wishing herself not to and teleporting means she still is a grail.

While Illya can produce Mana Kuro took half her capacity. Illya being able to install and fly means she is also using her wishcraft magic like Kuro.

I think Ruby said at the beginning of 2wei that Illya was down to like a third of her previous power. So it's likely that Kuro actually took 2/3rds of the grail power.

I always assumed what Kuro took was involved in the creation of her artificial body and her abilities. Just not being able to make her own prana due to her artificial construction.

Or she took half, and a portion of each is being spent on keeping Kuro around.

Well Kuro's wish for Illya's life and Illya's wish to be normal made that possible.

Just that EMIYA card made it convenient.

In any case if Julian couldn't figure it out then Gil just got his entertainment out of it.

This is correct.

What Illya did in start of 2wei is no different from summoning a servant(except in this case she split half of herself into a servant-like vessel with card at it's core). The symptoms she had for few days afterward are consistent with that.

Kuro describes her power of teleporting as skipping steps of the process. She just described Wishcraft aka Third Magic. Einzbern lost it hence tryng to reacquire it through the Holy Grail War. Illya can also do this hence nuking the Assassins and Installing Archer and other heroic spirits.

Kuro plainly stated she is the grail function that the Einzbern worked for centuries.

Even with the Prana Illya provided Kuro was about to be erased from existence by the correcting force of the World but she wished to live thus her wish was granted by the grail.

Kuro and Illya are both halves of the grail in their home reality.

The Holy Grail is a wish granting device. But as Gil has figured out Julian's motives to amuse himself he tells him he needs two of them for it. Leaving out Illya and Kuro make up one grail.

A lot of what you say are just assumptions though. Extrapolated from facts, sure, but there's no way you can be certain that things are the way you say they are.

Kuro being almost "erased" in 2wei had nothing to do with correcting forces. Its no different than servant running out of juice.

Well one thing he/she is correct on and that is teleportation part.
Spoiler for Something that was changed in anime adaptation of first season:

With the movie announcement, i believe it is safe to assume the Drei arc will take longer to finish until 2018.

Rewatch Zwei or read its manga around when Iris comes back.

They really rushed the pacing this time. The 3rei manga material covered by the first cour anime so far was roughly the same length as the entire 2wei manga which was covered by 2 cours.

If the pacing of the movie is the same then it should be close to 2 hours.

As an anime only watcher, I had no problems with the pacing.

But then again I don't think I ever understood 'pacing issues'. Maybe I'm just weird.

Well, that is, my idea of a 'pacing issue' is five minutes being stretched over 7 20 minute episodes.
