Seems like the proper reaction from what just happened in this episode :).

Good start so far, that was a nice episode, the transition between the happy mood of Illya's life that quickly shifted into abnormal uncertainty.

Glad to see that they are handling the story well so far with Miyu getting kidnapped by those two mysterious characters. New OP song is nice, the action is fluid, and animation seems to have improved this season. Looking forward to more for sure.

Looks like the pacing is going to be all over the place in this series. We got barely halfway through the first chapter in this episode (though that was mostly due to the excision of the 2wei-ending cliffhanger for the anime adaptation), yet the next week preview shows (more like spoils, really) something from the end of chapter 3. Well, I guess we'll see. Lot more action in this manga than the previous two, and that often makes pacing hard to predict, since you can animate a whole chapter's worth of action in just a few minutes.

Animation and art direction are gorgeous. Somehow seems a bit more bright and colorful than I expected, though.

For the sake of anime-only viewers, the anime has gotten far enough that we can safely discuss the major difference between the original manga and the adaptation (both 2wei and 3rei).
Spoiler for since there's bound to be someone not interested:

Good episode overall.

The transition between the two world was a bit weird after the filler, it would have been better if they ended the last season with a cliffhanger like it was the case with the manga just after the battle against the king of heroes. I'm glad they manage to fix that part quickly. From the OP's visuals, it seems that the anime is going to animate a lot of things from the manga. I’m looking forward to that.
The music in the opening is kinda meh, i was expecting something that would make me hype more for this new season and it wasn't the case. (Visuals are good besides the weird background in the beginning) The ending is nice. I hope the animation will be good all along because the best is yet to come.

P.S: RIP fluffy shirou, you will probably not be missed.

Glad this season will have more fights than last season, since last season just dragged on for so long, Am looking forward to seeing what Angeline and Beatrice can do,

Agree it will be tough to judge how far they will get since the page counts can really vary and there is a lot more action in this arc. Seems like it will be brisk though. Very much the opposite of previous seasons. Where they had to spread out fewer chapters over more episodes and thus pad it out a bit. Here they can kind of really go in without much restraint.

If nothing else the show is going to look really good as expected. The brief action looked good and really just Illya wandering through that wintry landscape was a pretty nice scene.

In the end I like how things start up. Dealing with the status quo with Illya's friends and family before saying goodbye and heading off to a different world. Gets to replace all that....with Tanaka :heh:.

City Fading to Silver

Every year on summer I can count on a new Fate/kaleid liner Prisma*Illya season premiering, and now 3rei has come.

For starters, I want to make known to all members here that I absolutely know nothing on the light novels and/or manga from the same title. Hence, my knowledge is restricted from watching the previous anime seasons.

To begin with for me is going to take a while adjusting and getting used to Yumi Kakazu voicing the role of Sapphire, since it felt like a lifetime transpired getting along with the late Miyu Matsuki after going through three seasons.

And, let's talk on the current plot:
Honestly, I do not even know what can I make of this episode.....

Episode one was a good start. I am looking forward to the rest of this season, even if I am a bit worried about the pacing.

Excellent first episode.

I'm really glad this is getting right into the action and plot heavy-content right away. I wouldn't say I hate Illya's friends, and in fact they're fine in small doses like this - It's when they completely take over an episode that I start to find them kinda tiresome.

So I'm very pleased that we only had a little bit of SoL content to sort of ease us into this continuation before the fantastically flashy action really takes off. One area where this property consistently delivers is in its highly entertaining action scenes!

Parallel world stories are also rich with potential and intrigue, and this one is off to a good start.

I find Illya's friends many times more cuter than the main casts though.
Too bad they definitely will not get anymore screen time after this.

And really it seemed to me that it is not as if Miyu doesn't have any special feelings for Shirou from Illya's world.
Plus in the drama cd on their summer vacation, Miyu was actually willing to mate with Shirou along with Illya and Kuro while they were stranded on deserted island.

Matsuki-san... :T_T:

Holy shit, fluffy Shirou turns in Shirou

I tend to agree they really are at their best in smaller doses. Herz was kind of rough because the first half was so heavily slice of life with the friends, just too much of them. This was fine though. It was nice to have a little moment just to hammer in that Illya, Miyu, and Kuro do have these regular friends that anchor that idea of a "normal life."

Just easing us in with the slice of life before it's clearly going to be gone for a while. Tapping out the slice of life and bringing in some more serious drama to take its place.

Seems like we'll have no shortage of action with Miyu captured. Plenty of potential with Illya now getting to visit Miyu's world.

Can't wait for next week after how this episode finished off.

I don't hate any of them either. In fact I find the ditsy martial artist and the otaku imouto of the grand master fujoshi quite funny. I just don't particularly care for any of them enough to even learn their names, and would rather the show just get on with its very good plot. This is why I didn't watch 2wei, was because it was too heavy on the SoL, which in this series generally means loli softcore porn and/or innuendo. Even in this episode, they couldn't even add original material of their friends leaving without plugging in some loli yuri innuendo set off by a very unnatural and forced slip on the part of Illya.

Finally, something Fate/Anime to look forward to. True, Prisma is my least favorite thing in the whole franchise but at least it's going to entertaining until Last Encore and Heaven's Feel graces the fandom with their presence.

When they said the old composer wouldn't be returning for 3rei, I was so pissed but they're using his tracks anyway. Hopefully they'll use his badass fighting themes more in the future and not just the SoL stuff.

Tanaka was just as awesome as her manga counterpart. Shirou's new design was sweet and Silver Link keeps getting better and better in terms of animation too.

Harry Dresden 2016-07-07 05:08

Best and the only good fate anime is back!

This episode was so awesome, silverlink pretty much upped their game up in every possible aspect, with visuals and attention to detail(ex: seeing frozen eyelashes of Illya when she wakes up, having hot air escape when she at first talks there, the way the snow is animated, etc), great cinematography( A LOT of great camera angles and similar shots to contrast first and second half of the episode), great directing(great use of contrasts between the first and second half of episode, not to mention absolutely bone-chilling handling of the second half after Illya wakes up) and great action.

And what's more this was perfectly paced! Not a single thing was too rushed or too slow.

I hope Shaft can match this next year with F/E. It will certainly be hard as this was probably the best fate episode to date in last 12 years.

I already can't wait for next episode.

Levani 2016-07-07 05:16

For me the camera angles were all over the place and it was hard to make out what exactly was happening but it was beautifully animated, yeah.

As for its pacing, IMO the first half was terrible, a consequence of their fucked ending last season. It went by too fast and then it slowed down, I wouldn't call that perfect pacing.

One thing that left a huge impression was the after credit scene, it was almost scary. The new voice actors fit their characters and Silver Link represented them in animation medium well.

Can we not do this? Prisma is far from a perfect manga adaptation, neither is it true to its source material. I get it that you like the show but a statement like that is nothing more than a bait.
