Looks like we're getting a TV anime adaptation for The Elusive Samurai

Synopsis

Eight-year-old Tokiyuki Houjou, the next successor of the Kamakura shogunate, is a young boy lacking talent in everything besides hide-and-seek. One day, his carefree life is abruptly turned upside down when Takauji Ashikaga brutally seizes power from the Kamakuras, ending their reign. Rescued by a self-proclaimed prophetic priest, Tokiyuki manages to escape with his life. Now he must evade those trying to kill him while recruiting comrades who can help him restore the Kamakura Shogunate to its former glory.

Set during the Nanboku-chou period of Japanese history, Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi is a tale of redemption, documenting the life of the forgotten hero that altered Japan's destiny by running away.

I wanted to say "already?", but then I remembered that it have over 100 chapters. So I guess IT IS time for an adaptation.

IMHO the most underrated series in Jump. I don’t expect it to get an expensive, lavish adaptation given that sales are noting special by WSJ standards. But if it did it could really soar.

Edit: It’s CloverWorks, which suggests that the visuals will be at least pretty good.

I also recall manga like Hinomaru Sumo also getting an anime despite its sales also being nothing special. (Granted Hinomaru was not as lavish looking as this...)

Sometimes I wonder if the choices are more influenced by the preferences/bias of the publishers high up in Shueisha (I always wondered if Hinomaru's survival was due to some sumo-loving boomers high up in Shueisha's board back then...)

A Matsui anime by Cloverworks? I'll watch it. I read the first couple chapters back when they came out and didn't end up going further since it seemed to lack the charm of Matsui's other works. This anime may convince me to give it another look.

I honestly have enjoyed the manga for this one. So yeah, I'll definitely be checking this out. Should be fun.

It just took 2nd in the Shogakukan Awards, which is surprising in that they rarely honor series they don't publish that highly.

I really like it, and think it's criminally underrated.
