Welp. That ending certainly was...something. I think that implied second season is pretty much just wishful thinking at this point though.
I will say this, this series was consistently entertaining throughout, though likely not for the reasons the studio intended. I am glad to have another perfect show for Drunken "B-Movie" Anime Night, my friends are going to absolutely love this. |

Apparently enjoying torturing and killing people is fine as long as you just do it for fun instead of REVENGE. If they wanted to go the ham-fisted route of Arya being "pure" because she thinks what she's doing is for the greater good, they probably should have dropped the bit about her wanting to give Seigi "hatred and despair" while smiling maliciously about it.

Best way to describe this show is wasted potential. Started off solid, then it went off the rails at a speeding train's pace, with some pretty awful transitions. That being, said, it had it's good moments so I can't say I wasn't entertained.
Forget 2-cours, I could've seen this spread out even throughout 2 cours then another one, especially with the time skip & all. |

With summer approaching its end, this is the second show finished by me of the season.
Seriously, back three months ago when I picked-up this show I was expecting some of the genre of Ikkitousen due to featuring martial-arts battles as its core content. However, I did not expect the studio turned it into such an epic mess. The first episodes were like jumping in and out suddenly without building tension from one event into the next one, then we had other episodes full of crazy Izzy antics or the Princess fanservice antics. Then, after midway into the series the show when into one-sided maelstrom for Seigi and the USA camp, as the Princess and her Brahman wiped the floor with them. And, like it always happens with bad adaptations regardless of the studio behind them, they went into an unceremoniously showdown with convenient deus-ex-machinas and anti-climatic resolutions for Seigi to nab victory though the princess gets away with the tail tuck between her legs. I am, however, surprised that they managed to adapt from their source content for this anime, though I may not chant early since they could have gone an original route with the season's finale showdown between Seigi and Arya. Guess, I'm getting tiring watching over and over stories with mankind being the scourge of all evils in the world, since Arya was just as dull as interesting as she came and went for this ultimate villain. I guess the slapsticks jokes were the most promising points with the show, though with Touko gone we can only get to rely on Izzy on that department. Lastly, the last 50 seconds of footage shown in the final episode, were they teaser for the audience to wildly imagine if ever a second season comes rolling around sometime? or was it the intention of the producers at trolling the audience with a Big F*** YOU while flipping the bird? Guess, I could take another round if they served more slapsticks and stupid jokes for the second season. Right now, I'm calling temporal quits on this series. A rushed ending with action that only made the series somewhat watchable imo in the end.
This was...bad overall. At some point, I think the show didn't know what to do with itself and the writing wasn't well presented either from the start.

It's not a matter of sympathy. She's willing to die for a cause that she believes is good for the world. That's altruistic. That she's crazy for holding such beliefs, or that she occasionally indulges in sadism, doesn't matter to the tattoo.

Episodes 11 and 12:
I thought that Princess Aryabhata would become a god to the new world after killing Seigi-kun... But it seems that Wiseman tricked her in the end now that the Void Maker wielder has beaten the princess. Oh, and they're alive including Tamaki! Still, I think it's safe to say that Taboo Tattoo won't have another season. It's too dark to my taste with all the censored gore! |

In any case, I feel that adapting Taboo Tattoo might be a mistake after all. While it's not worse, I think they should have made into a 2-cour series. |

I know J.C.Staff. They can kick ass when they are given a show to make, but they do accomplish eyebrow-raising adaptations of their own sometimes (Tsukihime, Yumekui Merry, among others).
