Receieved PM messages by email but in in inbox here o.O;
I checked my email just now and yesterday I received 2 PM's from a random person asking me if a certain website was working or not (both PM's were the same message)
However I go to the forum site and I don't see anything new in my PM inbox at all, the messages aren't listed I tried using the links in the email itself but it all links to my inbox with nothing unread, the last message I had was from Xris and not this guy Did anything happen? Or did the user get banned (does that even result in having all send PM's deleted as well), I can't see the username in the email just the subject and content I tried checking in both Firefox and Explorer but it makes no difference |

Usually that means the culprit has been banned and their PMs retroactively blasted (as well as any posts). They've become a non-person
Phishing, scams, etc work by luring you to websites. Someone you don't have a relationship with is unlikely to be asking you to visit their site for legitimate purposes. Some clever javascript or social engineering later and you've just zombie-botted your own machine to their command

That damn site must really be hurting for new members. Quote:
The second one about their site not working just screamed "Come and check my site".

It was an user who massively PM spammed a lot of persons, thus was banned and all of the pms he sent were deleted.

Yeah, I got the same message 9 times yesterday and now I'm being spammed again by the "newest member". It's been reported already, so just put this user on your ignore list (in case you're getting spammed) and wait for him or her to be banned. It's amazing how someone could think that this would make people want to go visit that site.

Can I request that instead of creating threads or posting about such spam that you simply report it (you can make use of the Report button with PMs as well as posts).
Discussing banned users or any such spam can only help serve the spammers. I'll be deleting this thread soon because of this. Report the spammer, they will be banned and the PMs they sent will be deleted from your account. End of story. Yes And all you did was help advertise their site. Please do not do this... |
