Just to clarify something, that is discussing ogg audio. It is only marginally related to Ogg Media (OGM) which is a container format whose audio stream might not be encoded with Ogg Vorbis.

A year ago, the official Xiph stance on OGM was, Ogg has NOTHING to do with OGM. OGM is a hack that only will work on Windows computers. Now, it's Tobias just had to mod a few parts of our wonderful Ogg spec to get OGM, and we might take it into consideration with Ogg Theora (their video codec based on the terrible VP3). The truth lies in between. OGM is essentially a hack of Ogg that just stores Windows DShow stream data for video and audio streams and works on all platforms. There is NO more development of OGM even though the source is now open. No one (both inside and outside Xiph) with anytime to code cares. Everyone is coding Matroska support. Knowing Xiph Ogg Theora can be years away at the rate they work. Though I'm sure we'll hear grandiose claims in the meantime. The only reason people like them is because they've got the Open Source fanboys, and it's still uncertain if they've violated patents.
