Second "Naruto" Film Announced

Production work on a second "Naruto" (Masashi Kishimoto / Weekly Shonen Jump - Shuueisha) film has been announced. The announcement follows close on the heels of the first film, last August's "Naruto the Movie Daikatsugeki! Yuki-hime Ninpou-chou Dattebayo!!"

The second film will deal with the struggle between Naruto and Sasuke, who has been led astray by the wicked Orochimaru and turned his back on his home. "Naruto" fans can expect to see Sasuke's Mangekyou Sharingan-powered Chidori skill pitted against Naruto's Rasengan attack.

We will post future movie updates as the details become

Definitely. Having a movie that centrals around Sasuke and Naruto sounds great to me. Sasuke's Mangekyou Sharingan and Naruto's Rasengan in a wide screen...yeesss...the graphics will be awesome.

Its more likely this wont follow the current events in the manga. Its extremely rare for a movie to continue a part of the anime when its still ongoing. FMA has ended, so the movie continuing the events in 2005 is appropriate. For long running series like naruto and one piece however, if they did that they'd have to take a large break from the anime, and then out of the blue start in the middle/on something new without a conclusion to the previous episode.

People would not be happy that they'd have to either see the movie in theatres or BUY it just to know what happens.

Edit: And two things. One, this has already been announced and known for a while, theres only a little more info on it. Second, Sasuke DOES NOT HAVE MANGEKYOU SHARINGAN.

Spoiler for sasuke iz a fag lololo:

i seriously doubt the contents of the second movie being part of the manga storyline.

If the movie's contents is really like what the link Lost World provided described, then it can be assumed that it has a relation to the current Manga arc. The real question is how would the movie be based on that particular fight?

like Alamer said, if the movie is going to be part of the show, then the anime have take a BIG break... although its nice to watch their fight from start to end without splitting into episodes and wait every week.. unless the movie you're talking about is like one of the Jump Festa?

It could be like the X-Files movie where it followed the storyline inbetween two seasons. So there is a possibility there's a break, or perhaps they'll show more... who knows, but that's cool to me.

Maybe they made some kind of deal with Kishimoto to give fans a break on flashbacks. Maybe the movie consists of nothing but flashbacks that were in the manga. The beginning opens up with Naruto screamining our Sasuke's name. Then, they are about to fight when the flashbacks start happening. Here, we see younger Sasuke and his life along with Naruto always watching Sasuke. Then, it will end up looking like some kind of cheesy romance, and the movie ends with the rasengan and the chidori being blast against each other in a white light. End movie.

Why would do they do that? So that way, the anime fans won't have to see the flashbacks in the anime. They get to be all skipped!

Yeah! They'll definitely do that! And then they'll make a 15 episode long filler arc to replace the missing fragments, because they're already painfully close to the latest chapter!

Well, if the manga happens to do a time skip as so many Naruto fans are hoping for at it's current point, then this movie could take place between the current point in the manga and where the manga starts off again after the time skip

So actually this proves that Sasuke will get the mangekyou, not that it's that much of a surprise but still..

I find it hard to believe that Sasuke with Mangekyou will just be a "movie thing

Sigh...so I suppose that means that we're going to get a DVD release of the first movie just in time to have already been deep into the sasuke vs. naruto arc...and then what...a DVD release of the 2nd movie when we're god-knows-where in the manga....we're so close to an instant-world ...and...yet...soooo....far... It's going to be like when I watched that Crimson Clover episode when I was already 60+ eps into the series

I'll sound a lot like this while watching the movie: "hey naruto...why the hell aren't you using [insert fantastic new jutsu here]? Oh yeah...cause this movie takes place aeons ago in the arc...damn. I wish I lived in Japan. "

Is it too much to ask to have movies available worldwide instantaneously?

If this is the case then expect lots of fillres.. and also remember that this was at the VERY END of the arc... Not 'at the start of the next arc so there will be lots filler until after the movie'.

But either way I highly doubt this is true.
