Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Motokano datta is getting an anime adaptation

Synopsis

A certain boy and girl in middle school became lovers, flirted with each other, disagreed on trivial things, became more frequently irritated with each other rather than excited... and ended up breaking up on graduation. And so the two of them, Mizuto Irido and Yume Ayai, wound up meeting each other in the most unexpected fashion.

"Isn't it obvious that I'm the elder brother?"
"Isn't it obvious that I'm the elder sister?"

The children of the partner of their parents' remarriage were ex-lovers?!

The former couple, mindful of their parent's feelings, decided on a "sibling rule" where the one who becomes conscious of the other as the opposite sex loses, but... When they encounter each other in the bathroom, commute to and from school together... along with the memories of the past and living under the same roof, just how do they disregard each other?!

Well, this is a refreshing take on the romcom premise. Not so much the step-siblings bit but the fact that they actually dated before and broke up, so now it's a story more or less about them being stuck together again and having to rekindle their relationship with the complications of being siblings and probably love rivals .

Rina Hidaka and Hiro Shimono? I feel like I've seen this pairing before .

I'm kind of surprised they're going with older names, even if they're A-listers, but Rina hasn't been a lead in forever (let alone in a romcom) and it'd be nice to see Shimono the lead in a show with positive buzz again .

The direction for Tomozaki was solid and the script adaption for Komi-san was on-point, so this could turn out pretty fun. The leads' banter already seems on-point .

Jp twitter says that probably they have more resources, so maybe a better budget if they could have hired the A-listers?

Ok, I'll say the preview definitely has me sold on this. Just feels like the banter will be pretty good between these two. And plenty of credit goes to the voice work in that sense.

And the premise honestly does have fun elements to it. Some would just go with the "well here's a couple of step-siblings...let the romcom begin". Instead they do have that, but there is the whole previous relationship to unpack. What drew them together and broke them up is all still there. And they don't have the luxury really of ignoring each other like they could have after they broke up. Can toss in the whole awkwardness of having become 'family' of a different type than they would have predicted when dating before.

This could be fun .

This light novel was such a waste of time. The first 4 volumes are okay, but after that it goes downhill.

Agreed. Looks like it should be a pretty fun romcom. Both leads looking pretty likable and their situation should allow enjoyable silliness.

Well since I scrolled all the way to the bottom first. My eyes went immediately to the pairs of thighs . But eventually noticed that as well .

Don't think I've had a more blank expression watching an episode of anime yet still finishing it. Been there done that, and back doing it again
