Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Motokano datta is getting an anime adaptation

Synopsis

A certain boy and girl in middle school became lovers, flirted with each other, disagreed on trivial things, became more frequently irritated with each other rather than excited... and ended up breaking up on graduation. And so the two of them, Mizuto Irido and Yume Ayai, wound up meeting each other in the most unexpected fashion.

"Isn't it obvious that I'm the elder brother?"
"Isn't it obvious that I'm the elder sister?"

The children of the partner of their parents' remarriage were ex-lovers?!

The former couple, mindful of their parent's feelings, decided on a "sibling rule" where the one who becomes conscious of the other as the opposite sex loses, but... When they encounter each other in the bathroom, commute to and from school together... along with the memories of the past and living under the same roof, just how do they disregard each other?!

Don't think I've had a more blank expression watching an episode of anime yet still finishing it. Been there done that, and back doing it again

As just an anime-only viewer, that was surprisingly wholesome. Nothing spectacular but nice.

Mostly agree however the overall episode pacing felt all over the place. There were moments for sure, but overall it just felt a bit disjointed. One moment they're at home bickering, the other he's getting one upped in school, next their at home nearly kissing. There's just no flow to the story. And the two MCs seem to be the only real characters so far. Not having at least some friends to bounce off of at school is going to make this feel really old real fast.

I thought that was a pretty good start. Obviously we're going to start adding to the supporting cast, but I like the dynamic with the main pair. With this kind of thing the focus is of course be on the main pair for an episode, maybe two. But they'll get friends for both of them as they go. I can't see the show just being them the whole time (minus a few scenes with their respective parents). Voice acting is good and really does seem like only a matter of time before they have some things to explain to their parents .

Nothing crazy here. But I just enjoyed the first episode. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Yume and the bath towel business .

Hopefully the nice dynamic between them can continue. And something about these two having this strange second chance to make things work between them has me rooting for them.

Its like Domestic Girlfriend but there's only one sister...? Seems a smidge less trashy but I'll give it a few more episodes anyway.

From its setting and if they stuck to just doing what they did in the last 5 minutes or so of the anime, this could at least be average at best. Cute girls and fanservice.

But holy crap, the first 10 minutes were so bad. It was like watching that Detective is Dead anime. It was like if some idiot who didn't have siblings was trying to be a smartass and write up an "intelligent" conversation, but ends up with unnatural... whatever that was. Probably was meant to be a conversation. It almost made me appreciate Kaguya-sama for the love warfare thing.

Also, the OP's singing was as bad as the first half of the episode

Step-siblings or non-blood siblings having the hots for each other (or at least one of them do) isn't altogether uncommon, but what is uncommon is focusing on an ex-couple forced back together again through a remarriage. So not only do they have to deal with the tension of being newly step-siblings and the attention that brings but also their unresolved romantic tension that's still incredibly palpable .

When did Ai Kayano start playing all these hot anime moms? Not that I mind, she plays it phenomenally. Having her hubby voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu is pretty fun too. I'm kind of curious to see what the parents' relationship is like...I also wonder if we'll ever find out about the other parents .

So we've got bibliophile and stoic Mizuto who acts very unflappable but has a secret soft side and Yume who went from a shy nerd to a beautiful bombshell in time for her high school debut. And the camera is definitely not afraid to show off how attractive she is. Rina Hidaka really plays the sassy beauty quite well, and it's fun seeing her and Hiro Shimono reunite after Hensuki .

These two trying to decide which one gets to be the Onii-chan or Onee-chan in this situation...are they trying to create new fetishes in each other? Oh wait, maybe they are .

I guess the big question is why Mizuto and Yume originally broke up. It didn't seem amicable judging by how bitter and disdainfully they regard each other, even if there's obviously lingering affection, but I wonder if there was an inciting incident or just problems that built up over time. Yume said she didn't like how much he emotionally flip-flopped. They looked so innocent and happy in middle school .

Yume may act standoffish towards Mizuto, but she still cares enough about him to risk her own image to protect him, and I don't think it's just because they're family .

Yume in a towel...just, Yume in a towel. It was super effective, Yume just kind of forgot exactly how effective until it started falling off. Girls first seduction attempt. And of course right when they're about to kiss the parents show up. Must be pretty surreal hiding your practically naked step-sister and ex-girlfriend under a couch so your parents don't see .

The Opening is a pretty fun and cute number, showing the pair, the supporting cast, and the interplay of their romantic tension .

Outside of them being step siblings this is nothing like Domestic Girlfriend, this is about two people who used to date that still like each other but are too stubborn to admit it, the other was a trash fire that wouldn't stop burning.

I mean the tags for the series and the art make it pretty clear there's going to be a love triangle. Sometimes you've got to pour some gasoline on that trash before lighting it to get just the right temperature.

Unlike Natsuo and Rui these two presumably haven't had sex considering they just graduated middle school. I guess this series will be limited to lucky pervert moments and such.

All I have to say is that the characters (and maybe the author) have absolutely no clue how siblings really act. No, it is not natural for a teenage brother to be completely fine with his teenage sister wandering around in just a towel. Sure, there are brothers who are like that, but there are also plenty that will tell their sisters off for not having learned some common decency. And even if he's ok with his sister wandering around naked, brothers generally won't easily tolerate their siblings invading their privacy without permission. As such, while she might have been acting "like a sister" to try and steal some of his books, he would certainly have been acting plenty "brotherly" to kick her out and yell "keep your hands off my stuff".
