Here's hoping the author plays a big role in coming up with the plot (happens in some series, not sure how often though). But I can understand this choice a bit. Looking on threads about the series I often saw complaints about how certain aspects (like the hinted romantic potential) made absolutely zero progress over more than a hundred chapters. Seeing how much puppy love was going on in the early part, skipping years of "just pen pals" to a time when they can again be together and maybe progress a bit might not be such a bad thing. Again, depends on how much say the author has in it.

This is the thing that i noticed in the anime. They pushed romance. Hard. Lots of hints there from how they presented the OP and how those 2 where focus cutetly.
Taken from a novel reader. Thi s story is far from romance and more slice of life and even in latest, the feelings are more friendly to each other.

Hmmm, pretty sure I said I would drop this after season 1's end but here I am watching it and enjoying it.
As long as they keep the romance to low and challenge-development to high, though I am not sure I'll finish it given the seemingly crazy amount of shows this season.

Royma's dry cleaning business has a lot of troubles. Even it is making money, a lot gang members want to make trouble in his store. When he walks home at nigh, he is been targeted by bandits. He somehow overcomes them by his previous life's martial art training. The assistance from the guild is also helpful.

The series is worth watching, but I wish they upped the tempo a bit. I don't mind if it's slower in the "exploration" segments, but when even the infodumps are spoken at the speed of a dozing of elder it gets a bit boring.
It's kind of sad to compare this series to Rougo ni Sonaete which has similar theme and is airing in the same season. It loses in about all aspects of both the story and adaptation, not even speaking about the main character. |

Finally pulled the plug on this one. I was already weary about my interest after the first season, but the show doesn't really seems to know what it wants to do. Action? Business? Discovery? The pacing is horrible and it seems they just want Ryoma to befriend a bunch of kids.
Maybe they're gearing up for a time-skip, but I won't be there to witness it.

Kinda reminds me of Dog Days, in that it's generally just following the happy life of the MC without much conflict. There is the occasional issue in this show, but it's typically dealt with in very short order. I recall in DD nearly a whole season going by with no antagonist stuff happening heh.
Doesn't bother me. Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a slow, meandering, pleasant watch. Like how I enjoyed Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou; for many people the show's pacing would drive them to suicide lol. When I'm working my way through shows with heavy drama and themes, it's nice to then go watch shows like this to "unwind" |
