See, I want to give this a chance and hope that it might even do well
BUT... this is NBC. they have a history of, if it isn't a crime/drama/competition show, it fails hard *coughConstantinecough* So I'm going into this cautiously optimistic, but not expecting much. Though the trailer does look awesome

With only two episodes left at this point... well, it feels like this whole show has been NBC trying to make a far less violent version of Game of Thrones. A lot of the trailer showed awesome special effects, and so far... the series has been extremely underwhelming in that department. Sure, I wasn't expecting the whole musical song-and-dance that was the hallmark of the original, but I also wasn't expecting the amount of drama that is in this series, and it just seems to drag the series down. I'll most likely be sticking with this series to the end, but it goes to prove that the only thing NBC really knows how to do are shows that are dependent on drama and acting, and can't use special effects worth a damn.

Alright, all the episodes have aired... and here's my thought process as i watched it: "we have all this stuff going on, but barely a half hour to get it resolved, so I'll give it a 6/10... wait what are you doing... my rating is slipping to about a 3 for all the unresolved plotlines... YOU'RE BAITING US FOR A SEASON 2, YOU BASTARDS!" And here I was hoping this could be a "watched all the episodes and can now forget about it" show. The show ends a good chunk of the way that the original movie does, but at least the movie all came together. Meanwhile, Emerald City...
Spoiler for How Emerald City ends- Major Spoilers Ahead:
So ignoring the bait... otherwise i give Emerald City a 6/10. The last two episodes are where all the tv trailer material was pulled from, and were pretty much the best episodes. But it also shows that at the end of the day, NBC's forte is Drama, a little action, and more Drama. Hell, I don't even know if Netflix even has a decent fantasy series- I really do need to find a way to get my hands on Sword of Shannara though (the MTV series)
