Ninja were...
merciless demi-gods, ruling Japan with their karate in the age of ninja tranquility.
But, “some” committed a forbidden form of hara-kiri storing their souls at Kinkaku Temple for future resurrection.
Their lost history was falsified and concealed and the truth about these ninja was long forgotten.

Now, in the future where the universalization of cynbernetic technology and electronic networks are God, suddenly, sinister ninja souls, resurrected from thousands of years past are unleashed on the dark shadows of Neo-Saitama.
Fujikido Kenji, is a salaryman whose wife and child were killed in a ninja turf war.
In a brush with his own death, Fujikido is possessed by an enigmatic ninja soul.
Fujikido cheats death and becomes Ninja Slayer.
A Grim Reaper destined to kill evil ninja, committed to a personal war of vengeance.

Set in the dystopian underworld of Neo-Saitama, Ninja Slayer takes on Soukai Syndicate ninjas in mortal combat.

Since the anime came about, I think it's about time we get to know what this actually is, and hopefully, why the anime "turned out" that way.

Search didn't return me any possible results of an existing thread so if there's any please kindly note me of it.

The manga section of the site is region-locked, I'm unable to get to it. However for those who know where to find your sources of things, there are raws available.

Now for my impressions to start the conversation: Well, I can at least see why this series spouts so many memes within the Japanese internet... you can play drinking games with it

Gripping his machine gun in a rage, one of the black yakuza screams, “Son of a bitch!”
“You idiot. Stop.” Smith hurriedly tries to contain him but without consideration for the panic he has caused from the fear, the black yakuza pulls the trigger aiming at Arson. Wild, shooting spree shots ring out from the gun. BRATATATATAT!
Another black yakuza follows suit, grips his machine gun and fires. TATATATAT！

“Yeeart!” Arson evades the gunfire. The bullets don’t hit him.
“What the…”
“Yeeart!” Arson slips below the chest of the rapid firing black yakuza and calmly and easily drives a punch into his abdomen.
“Aaaargh!? Ooooff!?” The body of the rapid firing yakuza suddenly explodes into flames. DOD: dead on departure.
Namu-Amida-Butsu…Oh my Buddha. What is going on?

Frothing at the mouth, the other black yakuza fires his machine gun, but the bullets don’t hit their target!
Arson sneaks under the fire! “Yeeart!”
“Aaaargh!? Ooooff!?”
And like before, after being punched in the torso, he goes up in flames and dies!
Namu-Amida-Butsu…Oh my Buddha!
“Aieeee!”

... Oh, right. I forgot about a tiny synopsis. About the structure... yeah, expect a lot of "YEEEAARRTTT!!!"s, "AIIIIEEEE!"s, and many other "stock phrases" particular to this work.
