So that's really the project producer Chihiro Okamoto talked about. Great news!
I admit I hoped a second series but it's already miraculous to get a 1 hour special and who knows...
Time to rewatch the first series.

More good news.

I wonder if it will be brand new material or which manga chapters they will adapt?

I'm extremely disappointed it isn't a second season (they've got plenty of material for it) but I'll take what I can get.

They said it in the news. They're adapting the two new chapters that are coming out next week and at the end of December. I'll hold off on reading them since the special will air a week after the last chapter.

Duh... read, comprehend, post meme for me!

I think that's a good idea about holding off on reading the chapters.

It's been a while since I last watched the series, though - maybe a refresher is in order....

Hmm - I wonder if this OVA could be used in any way to evaluate whether or no a second season would be financially worthwhile fir the producers?

I'm totally looking forward to this. I'd read all the 10* volumes that Del Rey put out back in the day and also imported the DVD box set from America, and I love it all.

More of that would be very appreciated. Maybe it's testing the water for more...

I just hope they get the same voice actor for Ginko, seems likely they'd try and keep the whole team from before.

*volumes 8, 9 and 10 were one big book

I've started yesterday. It's just as a incredible as I remember.

I might reread the manga too. I'm still holding on to the hope they will animate the rest of the stories someday. Maybe they are trying to gauge interest with this special and if it's a success, they'll greenlight a second season. I sure hope so.

Mushishi was one of those slice of life animes that didn't really leave a big impression on me because it was rather short. Surprised that there will be a new series. I will checking to see what else is in store.

just saw the special on crunchyroll. Enjoyed seeing the old characters again. It got the same feels and mystery as the old series. Being the first anime I saw this year it was a delight
