Higurashi/Condemned (video game series) crossover

Twenty-five years after Hinamizawa, cured of the syndrome, Keiichi Maebara and Rena Ryuguu, are now married and have left Hinamizawa for major city in the United States. They escaped one nightmare... to discover another. Complete, possible upcoming sequel. 12 chapters.

Another Journey Into Darkness
Another/Eternal Darkness
Kyouichi and Mei are attacked by the "extra" and forced to fight their way through a horde of nightmarish creatures to uncover the mystery behind the horrors behind Yomiyama... and just to live to see another day. AU diverging after Episode 10. Incomplete, 1 chapter uploaded.

This is the one I'm more interested in reviews of. I tried to make the characters somewhat in character, but the series doesn't have any sort of indication what would happen if Mei in particular, were forced into a situation featuring a number of action scenes (fighting zombies and other minions of an ancient evil)

Thus, I have given both of them a sort of grim determination to keep going, and done my best to retain Mei's kuudere character (giving her rather terse lines, with a sort of "mysterious" air about her. I also made Mei somewhat resourceful,

Spoiler for Indirect Another (ep. 10+) spoilers, fanfic spoilers:

for instance, in this fic, the fire in the lodge is started by Mei to cleanse the lodge of her "zombified classmates" when she opens the gas pipes in the kitchen and then makes a molotov cocktail from gasoline in a maintainence shed to blow up the lodge.

As for Sakakibara, I think some of my personality might have leaked into some of his comments. In summary, I will not lie. I think I am better at writing action scenes then dialogue or characterization.

Now, a preview of the crossover between Madan no Ou and Gun-Ota (web novel about a gun otaku who ends up dying and being reborn to a fantasy world)

A basic overview of the lead. The main character is the same as the one in the Gun-Ota novel, Hotta Youta, known as Lute in the fantasy world of Gun-Ota.

In this crossover, he is reborn in Legnica under the name Lutien, an orphan of unknown parenting, though because of his name, he believes he may be part Brunish. Growing up, Lutien becomes the apprentice to a blacksmith. Unlike in Gun-Ota, there is no "magic liquid metal" and "sealed explosion magic" to allow him to make AK-47s etc, so instead, he uses his knowledge of historic firearms to make gunpowder the old fashioned way, and create a matchlock similar to the tanegashima, but with a rifled barrel (It would not be that much more difficult to make a rifled barrel if it was cast from bronze or iron... I don't think... I'm no gunsmith, this is all research I carried out on the internet)

In any case, here is my draft of Youta/Lutien's first presentation of his new weapon to Sasha (Lutien age 16-18, Sasha age 18-20, a few years before the Madan story takes place).

“Lady Vanadis?” I said as I stared at Alexandra Alshavin, Vanadis of Legnica, astounded “Do you really want me to do this?!”

“Yes”, the war maiden replied, “Load that leather ball into your weapon…. ‘rifle’, you called it, and shoot it at me. If it truly travels faster than any bowshot, even I should not be able to block it”.

As I had suspected, much like the rest of the people of the new world I had inhabited for the Vanadis was suspicious of my new weapon. She wanted to see it for herself before she believe my claims.

But, while I though she’d have me shoot through a breastplate or something, instead, she wanted me to use her as live target practice, albeit with a leather ball stuffed with cloth.

“My lady”, I said, “I fear you do not understand the power of this weapon, even with a leather ball, you could be severely injured. And I understand that you are not well…”

My fears were not unfounded. In my past life, I had occasionally heard news stories of people being killed by rubber bullets.

Alexandra, however, simply turned to the leader of her unit of guards, and said, “I, Alexandra Alshavin of Zchted, in the name of all the gods, swear that, in the event of my death, no harm shall come to the blacksmith Lutien of Legnica.”


After making her pronouncment, Alexandra stood at about twenty alsin (meters) from me position and held her Viralt, the twin short scimitars known as Bagren in a defensive posture.

Reluctantly, I poured a flask of powder into the rifled musket’s barrel, and then rammed the leather ball barrel. I was surprised it fit so perfectly- I suspected the Vanadis may have measured the barrel after it was left in the castle armory over night, after my first demonstration the day before.

Slowly, I raised the stock up to my shoulders and the barrel slightly lower, lining up the sights up with Alexandra’s thigh, just above the pair of belts she wore around it. Now, I wouldn’t be able to kill her, but if I suspected broken bones would to the ailing Vanadis no good at all

I exhaled, slowly pulling back trigger. The serpentine lever sprung forward and the slow match contacted the pan with a flash. Less than a second later, the leather ball was ejected out of the barrel along with a flash of burning powder and loud bang.

I could not see what happened afterwards for the smoke, but the bang of the gun could not hide a yelp of pain in the voice of the Vanadis.

“Lady Vanadis!”, I yelled as I dropped the musket, “Are you all right!”

At the same time, the guards rushed to Alexandra’s side, thankfully honoring their orders that I was not to come harm.

As the smoke was carried away by the light breeze, Alexandra got to her feet, now sporting a dark purple bruise.

“I must say I’m impressed, Lutien”, Alexandra said, “I have fought two Vanadis at the same time, and they never landed a hit on me, but your ‘rifle’ did it first time. I would like you to enter my service as head armorer and instruct the rest of my blacksmiths in the making of these weapons.”

“I would be honored, Lady Vanadis”, I said, immediately dropping to one knee.

Like I said earlier, be warned you may not see much from this is a while- I am a graduate student and very busy.

That said, I will try and write a battle scene preview at some point, featuring Lutien (and Legnica's army with their shiny new muskets and cannon) either fighting alongside Elen and Liza in the subjugation of the pirates on the Legnica coast, or alongside Mila and Tigre in the Muozinel invasion (leader of an expeditionary force of 300 riflemen and few cannon deployed by Sasha in support of her of friend, Elen during the battle).

Also, as for pairings (or, which harem members am I NTRing from Tigre!) probably Lutien x Sasha initially, after

Gave me the mood to make Besiege X Vanadis... With Tigre on top of a flying machine ordering to release all bombs on top of Muozinel...

Too much Besiege lately...

I don't mind Tigre not getting Sasha though... It stops it from being too cliche and makes it refreshing... who knows, Lute and Tigre might become buddies too since Tigre's home country is an ass with those who practice long range combat.

Not sure if anyone cares, but I have decided to change the Vanadis fic from a direct Gun-Ota crossover to something more inspired by it, with a new main character.

Spoiler for Saving space- character bio:

John Cannon (past life) /Mikhail Zhukov (Zchted)

"When I was given the choice of last name, my first thought was 'Kalashnikov', given the name I was given when I was given at birth in Zchted, but maybe I just thought it was a bit too cliche- not that anyone here would notice- so I chose Zhukov instead."

-Mikhail's thoughts upon being given a title of nobility and a surname by Vanadis Alexandra "Sasha" Alshavin

Essentially, the backstory of John is that he was a military history geek and part time officer in the US Army Reserve, John dies on Earth in an accident involving the accidental triggering of a Civil War-era artillery shell he dug up as part of his hobby while on leave. So, in any case, given the Gun-Ota inspiration, he is reborn as "Mikhail", an orphan in Zchted who becomes a blacksmith in Legnica, and, at about 16, constructs a crude musket, but with features from later Earthly weapons- most notably rifling and a conical Minie-style bullet. He manages to make gunpowder from charcoal in the blacksmiths shop, and the other ingredients taken from an apothecary- sulfur and saltpeter were actually used in medicines long before their use in gunpowder was known.

This quickly gets the attention of Sasha

Two years later, Mikhail gains noble status, having taken on the last name of a certain famous Russian general, and is in charge of a unit of musketeers and cannon in Legnica's army. When a group of pirates appear off the north coast of Legnica, Sasha sends Mikhail and his new weapons into battle for the first time. The weapons prove effective, but they drive the pirates to retreat towards Elizavetta Fomina's troops, which angers her and starts her disagreement with Sasha that leads to the Borozlo- much as in canon.

Mikhail would later be present at the Borozlo, and, unlike the rest of the armies, who simply look on in awe, he alone considers engaging Liza, and orders his artillery to load and prepare to fire on her if Elen is killed in the duel. Fortunately, both survive.

The next real combat action come when, as a representative of Sasha, Mikhail, along with 300 riflemen and 12 cannon arrive to counter the Muozinel invasion along with Elen's forces.

Mikhail later play a major role in the naval battle against Torbalan's invasion.

That's about as far as I have planned out. After Sasha's death, the emotionally devastated Mikhail has to take over running Legica in the Vanadis' absence. Later, he will end up fighting alongside Elen and Tigre in the multiple civil wars in Zchted.
Relationships with Canon Characters:

Alexandra "Sasha" Alshavin: Sasha quickly become friendly with Mikhail after spending considerable amounts of time with him, initially out of interest in his new weapons, but she quickly becomes attached to Mikhail himself, being one of the few people she feels able to truly open up to. Over time, they develop feelings for each other, however, their romance is cut short after Sasha succumbs to her disease shortly after defeating Torbalan. Mikhail is severely impacted by her loss, and goes through a period of survivors guilt, believing that, if he had been able score a cannon or a few rifle hits on Torbalan, it might have weakened him enough for Sasha to finish him off without expending her strength. He also goes through a period after Sasha's death where he irrationally blames himself for not having the right knowledge from 21st century Earth- if he had medical training, that he might have been able to save Sasha and maybe even cure her disease.

Elizavetta Fomina: For much of the earlier part of the series, they harbor an intense hatred towards each other- During the subjugations of the pirates off the coast of Legnica, Liza blames Mikhail and his new weapons for driving the pirates to retreat towards her troops. Mikhail, for his part, considers Liza immature and unworthy to lead a territory. Only after they fight alongside each other against Torbalan's invasion do they gain a grudging respect for each other.

Tigrevrmud Vorn: Mikhail generally is friendly with Tigre, though they do have a friendly rivalry with regard to who can shoot more accurately with their respective weapon.

Eleonora Viltaria: Mikhail is generally friendly with Elen, and greatly respects her talent for military strategy. Elen is likewise impressed with the firepower of Mikhail's guns. Mikhail will fight alongside both of them many times later in the fic.
