The Mokuton ability Yamato inherited from Shodaime IS NOT a Kekkei Genkai, because that ability was unique to Shodaime ONLY. Not his bloodline or his descendants, because that would mean Tsunade can perform it. But she cannot. Also, Shodaime didn't earn his title because of Mokuton. That's like saying anyone with a strong unique ability can be a Kage? That's not how it works.

Yamato's strength hasn't been shown in combat yet like Kakashi/Gai's has, that's why I don't know where to rate him. While he may be a good teacher and a good leader, I haven't seen any significant fights from him. The most we can speculate is that his Mukouton Jutsu is good for helping Naruto deal with Kyuubi. Other than that, what? Just because he has the First's ability, he's automatically a strong Jounin? I have a feeling Naruto knows Yellow Flash and Naruto also knows Kage Bunshin, a forbidden jutsu because of its strength and capabilities, does that rank him higher than Jounin? Neji's knowledge of the Byakugan and ability to use Kaiten clearly puts him at Main Family level, yet I didn't rate him higher, because I consider combat capabilities more important than anything else. No leeway because of skills/gifts/special moves. Using a special move is more important than knowing it. I would rate Sasuke higher than Naruto simply because I think Orochimaru taught him to use Sharingan better than Jiraiya taught Naruto to use Kyuubi, even though I think Naruto will beat him.

No.... Wrong, wrong wrong.

They bring up the abilities when they're awe struck about the power of a Hokage. It has nothing to do with their abilities being a factor in whether or not they're named Hokage. Remember, being a Chuunin has nothing to do with strength but in over-all leadership, ability to deal with pressure, battle tactics AND power. Shikamaru was the only Genin promoted during the Chuunin exams, because of his ability to know when to retreat in battle. Sarutobi didn't have a special bloodline or talent, he was just an incredibly smart shinobi and valued his team-mates above all. Those abilities were just factors, not decisive.

Also, it's clearly stated that Yamato's Mukuton ability is helpful with dealing with Naruto because using the wood he can pin down the Kyuubi tails to help counter Kyuubi taking over Naruto.

Being the best in Anbu is just a fact to help build character, not something that's exclusive to one Jounin over another. Kakashi was trained by Yondaime, does that make him stronger than other Jounin? No, it's his abilities and capability as a shinobi alone. No bias should be in this thread and you don't have any facts to prove Yamato is strong, just speculation.

No facts that Yamato is strong? Fact: he has the best record in anbu Fact: anbu get many missions to recover or defeat other ninjas, most of which are A rank or above. Conclusion: Yamato has the best record in Konoha when dealing with extremely difficult missions. Sounds like hes pretty strong.

Well not including the Sannins I would place Gai and Kakashi as two of the strongest. Asuma was probably one of the strongest. I also place Hiashi fairly high. Neji I think lacks experience to be in the top 10. Sure Neji is strong, but experience is important for any ninja so I don't think I would place him up there with Hiashi, Gai, or Kakashi. I think Ebisu since he trains elite ninja is probably pretty good, but we don't know enough of what he's capable of. Shikamaru's dad seems really intellegent too so I'm betting he's up there somewhere. I would like to think Ibiki is strong...he atleast looks strong I guess my top 10 are:
1)Gai
2)Kakashi
3)Asuma
4)Yamato
5)Hiashi
6)Anko
7)Kurenai
8)Shizune
9)Ebisu
10)Ibiki

Let's see all Jonin besides Kabuto, Yamato, Hiashi, and Neji have a weakness.

Kakashi- Book lol
Gai- He is very nice but doesn't have good memory
Asuma- Cigarettes
Kurenai- Not easy to get genjutsu on people
Ebisu- perverted lol
Anko- fight before thinking
Shizune- Nice
Ibiki- forgot who this is

As for the Sannin they can't be considered Jonin or even A.N.B.U ops. Sannin is a title that lets people know they have Hokage potential. So they shouldn't be bunched in a category of Jonin.

Ibiki is the Interregations expert, he is also Idates brother from an earlier Naruto episode. If that dont help he is the one that was in charge of the written chuunin exam, he is the examiner in charge before Anko hope that helps
