And reading over chapter 13 again, there's really just not enough there to fit in one episode. They'd have to either stretch things out, which would be good from a budget standpoint, but would be like watching paint dry for the audience, or they could add something additional (and not shown in the previews), but I have no idea what they could be. That's the thing. Over the next couple chapters, or at least until the end of 16, there really is no tension. There is, technically, but it's so infused with humor that it's hard to treat it as such without ruining said atmosphere. 3rei is already the darkest of the Prillya mangas. We don't need to go full edgelord.

Episode 7
Lol I find this episode funny. Illya got turned into a stuffed animal by Erika! Apparently she can still control her body to a new body somewhat. Erika's original plan was to brainwash her but that didn't work out. Also really funny to see Beatrice's cute side. Glad to see Rin and Luvia this episode too in maid outfits! Got some good laughs from this episode.

Episode 7
Welp. This does not bode well... Either way great episode again. They cut some things and they could have handled Miyu seeing Illya scene better but otherwise quite good adaptation so far. The pacing is interesting too, I guess they want to pace it correctly so Spoiler:
Good episode all around. |

Episode 7
Lol this episode was so weird and so good. Illya gets kidnapped because Erika wanted Miyu to be with Illya because they can't let it be the other way around. But Angelica couldn't brainwash Illya. So, they stuff Illya's mind in a teddy bear and give Miyu Illya's body. Like hell she'd want to be with an empty body with no mind. And Erica didn't know what was up with Miyu. Lol Body onee-chan and Mind onee-chan. And Illya saw a whole new world during her short stay at the Ainsworth residence. Beatrice turns out to be madly in love with the foul mouthed Julian. And Illya saw stuff she never imagined she would. Beatrice under the blanket on a Julian bedsheet was totally unexpected lol. And this Julian guy is probably the same person we see in the OP before Illya uses Excalibur and who we saw in the previous episode as Darius was leaving. Either Darius is Julian, as in Darius takes that form or something, or Julian is Darius. And there's this ponytail girl too who is with Julian in the OP. Rin and Luvia show up as useless maids lol. Everyone was sent to this parallel world. Rin and Luvia probably arrived not long after Angelica, Beatrice and Miyu so they got caught quickly and stuffed into toys with their bodies being used as maids. And Illya meets up with Sapphire and she turns into a magical stuffed bear girl lol. Poisons and traps weren't doing anything so Angelica decided to exterminate them by using the Gate of Babylon lol. She is going to use all those noble phantasms to kill those pests and make sure they stay dead. And look at that bastard Gil in bed like the nekoing royalty he is. Lol he'd kill Kuro first thing after he grows up. Gil knows a little too much which is why Kuro and Bazette go to him to find out what could have happened to Illya. And next episode will have him being badass again with something about them being the villains. What does this kid have in mind? And what do the Ainsworths want? And we'll have Angelica fighting a magical stuffed bear girl. And Erica will be on top of Illya's body with a pair of scissors. Little kids shouldn't play with scissors. |

Interesting. While I partially expected that previews can be misleading, I never imagined that episode will not cover just two chapters, but actually WHOLE THREE TANKOUBON CHAPTERS. So from now probability, that this season will actually cover whole final battle, was raised on nearly 90%.
After seven episodes, we are on chapter 15 and ending of final battle (thus basically whole arc) is on chapter 27 (with little afterwards on 28) by takoubon numbering. That's 12 (or 13) chapters for remaining five episodes. That would make approximately 2 and half chapters per episode. If we assume that there would be absolutely no filler or additional material, it's no hard to imagine, that they could manage it. Fact that those chapters contain mostly action will just help. Good thing is they manage pacing relatively tolerably, but it raises the fundamental question: "What next?" Thanks to straight finishing whole arc with this season, they basically run out manga material. So what will happen with next season? Only finished thing is currently just flashback arc and that takes only 10 tankoubon chapters. That definitely can't fill same straightly paced full season like this one. Right now only six following possibilities comes on my mind:

^@ukulelembo:
Don't forget that future manga spoilers are not allowed in this thread even under spoiler tags. Just moving the "six things" to the manga thread would probably be best. Looks like someone has been paying a little too much attention to the pretty pictures over the last few episodes and hasn't been paying attention to what's being said or done. That's some good stuff you're missing...

Episode 7 might be the funniest anime episode I've watched all year. Just total comedy gold!
What I especially liked how it wasn't your standard Prism Illya comedy. It focused on different characters, and while some of it was a little lewd, it was mostly just based on the hilarious absurdity of certain situations. Illya as a stuffed doll is comedic brilliance by whoever came up with that. Great work!

just because things has been said doesn't help that everythings been confined to the school or one room for the past few epi. and everyone's just sitting around. didn't need the whole episode of llya "omg i'm a doll, watch me get smacked around" for 15minutes with 5minutes of important intel when from what others said, tons of stuff are being cut.

Or maybe we can have the rest of the group run straight to the Ainsworth Castle and get nuked by Beatrice when they enter the detection field. They haven't been moving because they don't have any hand to play right now. Sometimes you have to wait for circumstances to change. How is it unimportant to note the ability to actually separate body and mind? Or Sapphire actually being able to train the rats in the castle to keep herself safe and able to take action when the time is right. How about finding out where Rin and Luvia have been? Gaining more understanding of the personalities and viewpoints of the Ainsworths is pretty handy. The warped nature of Erica, the prioritizing of the body over the mind inside of it. I liked the note that Illya was basically able to take her memories and hide in a vacated part of her mind. Likely the area where Kuro used to exist. In a sense able to use what had been done by Irisviel and Kiritsugu to avoid brainwashing. It was hardly an episode just about Illya getting knocked around.

In the manga, you actually get a panel where Illya's memory flashes back to the view of her parents from her crib (same panel from way back in the second series when Kuro's nature was revealed), just to cement it, one that's been reused a few times since to remind us. I don't know how memorable that scene was in the anime (I stopped watching 2rei after the loli pr0n/slice of life became a bit too much for me). If it wasn't, then that probably explains why it was one of the (ultimately unnecessary) things cut for time from this ep.

Yes it does need a whole episode for that. The episode not only shows how twisted and strange Ainsworths are but also works as very well made reference to one particularly "popular" Bad End in FSN. Last edited by Harry Dresden; 2016-08-18 at 01:47. |

Well Illya being a teddy bear is a bit of an irony considering the original setting.
But as we see here Illya still has access to her Wishcraft powers even if Kuro took part of it with her. I guess Ruby and Sapphire chose them because of that. Their creator probably planned it. What llya did to keep her personality is pretty much what Kuro did to preserve hers. Yeah big blunder on Irisviel's part. Illya just had Dissociative identity disorder with Kuro appearing when she is in danger. |
