Well, I suggest you should read Vol.14 & 17
As stated in Volumes 14 and 17, she does not want to put herself in danger because she knows Miyuki will be angry because of her own feelings for her brother.
P.S. I mean, I don't know about ranobe much, but in anime it is very obvious. And I stop with that shipping here.

The SS Temptation of Rose is about Leo rejecting the proposition (by Ernst Rosen) of loving Erika (3 times, the temptation referred in the title is "loving Erika"). I don't think that ship will ever set sail anywhere.

Saburou insist he is Shiina's bodyguard, because it was planned that he would be when they were both younger, but his magic didn't develop enough so his candidacy was rejected.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a ponytail because Erika has one. It was said in the Visitor arc that she had an almost idol-like standing among the Chiba family (at the dojo).

Shiina's family also requires bodyguard candidacy huh, much like the Yotsuba's guardian policy. Are the ten master clans issuing this kind of policy? Or just a few families?

Anyways im looking forward to Saburou and shiina's role to the Yotsuba siblings.

I'm not sure if it is bodyguard candidacy, but Saburou's family (Yaguruma) have been the Mitsuya's bodyguards and servants for 3 decades (battle butlers! ).

Considering the chance of kidnapping, anti-magicians attacks and the rest, it's not too surprising well known and wealthy magicians families would employ bodyguards for their most promising members.

Mayumi had a bodyguard (see Ancient City arc) and Erika has her "personal guards" (they are mentioned in the Visitor's arc, she use them more like underlings though). The Rosen used bodyguards since before WWIII too.

Yup, it's No from both sides. They have never seen each other more than friends or master-student. And I doubt they ever will in the future volumes.

It might be better if Erika doesn't want to make any moves cause reading Miyuki vs Mayumi vs Honoka romance fights is pretty darn borring already and none of them actually has any progresses lol.
