Y'know it did seem so odd that the final villain used the Byakugan. Kishi basically ignored hinata for 99% of the series and even Neji got more focus than she did, and now we have a movie that focus's on her. This is like bleach making a movie that focused on Hinamori. It just feels kind out of left field... ya kind of expect the movie to be more about Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura

Eh, kinda makes me think that Kishi's once again making up things as he goes... afterover 600 chapters he finally had an idea of something to do with Hinata, but it was kinda too late to do it the manga since he wanted to wrap things up... so he shoe horned in kaguya to replace Madara as the final villain and added some lore about the sage's brother that we never heard of before, just so he could tie the end of his series to the movie he was planning.

I just can't help but think how much better this would all be if Hinata and Sakura had switched roles from the very beginning. Not only would Hinata have gotten actual development, but then we would have had Naruto(Asura), Sasuke(Indra), and Hinata(Kaguya) at the final battle. Seriously, Sakura just felt out of place with Naruto and Sasuke; those two were there to like fulfill ancient destiny/prophesy, and Sakura just tagged along out of her obligation because they started that trio thing a LONG time ago... not to mention that if Hinata was gonna have some kind of big development about her character you would think it would pop up when dealing with Kaguya since she used the Byakugan. She's basically to Hinata what Indra and Madara were to Sasuke. It just would have made for a better ending

I am kinda peeved that this movie will focus on Hyuuga's. When Kishi didn't even bother to explain the backstory of Uzumaki!

As far as the movie focusing on the Hyuuga goes, I'm not so much annoyed by the concept as I am by the fact that it's happening now. Had it happened at any other (appropriately timed) point in the manga, I'd have been all too happy to see the Hyuuga get the fleshing out they're sorely in need of. But to tack it onto the ending? Ehh, really feels like a wasted effort at this point.

I'm taking more of a "better late than never" stance on this particular issue. I think what I'm most happy with is that for all the disappointment fans had with the Byakugan sucking in comparison to the Sharigan or Rinnengan, it's finally being shown wielded by the most powerful antagonists this series has ever seen. It'd be cool if this new antagonist reveals some secrets to this dojutsu that finally put it on par with the other two.

The problem though it is not a Hyuuga doing it. Most of the Uchiha were average shinobi. But there were some that were legendary. They has never been Hyuuga like Shishu, Itachi, Madara, Sasuke, Indra, ect. Hiashi, Hizashi were slightly above average jonin. They weren't Shikaku Nara, Asuma, Kakashi, or Gai. Neji was suppose to be a genius, but at the time of his death, was no better than any of the non-Team 7 K11. He long ago stopped being relevant power wise. Hinata is Hinata.

So that is why it is curious that Kishi is now making them relevant through Hanabi. A character who has only appeared in two panels. Maybe Kishi thinks, hey, I ran out of Uchiha, so what is left?
