For some reason, Paz's school uniform looks like it is from Sakurakou High from K-ON!. So........popular culture in the 1970s Cuban Missile Crisis?

I've got to try and take this as tongue in cheek commentary at this point or something. Even though I know it probably isn't.....

And does anyone think the MGS1 era sneaking suit looked better than the one we have today? I suppose you might argue some kind of latex body suit is more high tech...but I always thought it looked silly.

It's not even that, it's like how it's switched markets to cater and market to otaku (like say using Nana Mizuki as a cutesy jail-bait girl as just one of many examples). I think MGS 2 was weird, but, it it was more in a trying to mess with the gamer's head style weird and making them think about the world they live in. Mostly by integrating real world history with the events of the game which I thought was kind of cool. Metal Gear Solid 4 was where it really started getting to be like an otaku in-joke. The sudden inclusion of Monster Hunter content (which is another big deal over there with gamer otaku) just makes it seem even more likely. The fact that Kojima also recently tried to pair Snake with Nintendo content too....and yet people claim this guy is somehow a visionary along with the Metal Gear franchise. If you ask me MGS is one of the biggest shilling/sell-out franchises out there...not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just the first thing I think of when I see it now and it's a bit of a turnoff. Peacewalker just says to me that's it's going to be another one of those clusterfucks of "bonus content" at the expense of "Tactical Espionage Action" gameplay, which if you are going to put that above the title is a pretty big problem.

@SaintessHeart: It's seriousness seems to come and go at the drop of a hat if you ask me. One moment it's a gritty torture scene (at least one per game now it seems), and then you are cartwheeling around naked and getting talked too by a guy shouting weird quotes at you. Just finished taking out a room full of guys with close quarters combat techniques....but what's that up on the wall....is that a poster of a currently popular Japanese gravure model in 1960's Russia?

I can't help but laugh every time I watch the PV for this game.

I mean I generally like Mizuki Nana songs but this one is so unfitting for a MGS game, lol.

Already got my copy. Limited Edition one as well. Comes with art book.~

I STILL find it amusing the robots in this game use Vocaloid for their voices. =p

Got my copy already. Was the last one in my local EB store.

Liked the art book actually. Nice designs on all the characters.

If you use a control setup you're familiar with than it's not that hard to get used to really. If it's your first MGS game though I s'pose it could be.

I chose the MGS4 setup because I rarely play Portable Ops and never played Monster Hunter Unite.

finished the game today. Got to say its a great game with a plot twist in chapter 5. I notice that
Spoiler:

And also

Spoiler:

To trigger the true final boss fight, do ALL the main and ops missions and have ZEKE ready-made. The story doesn't end at chapter 4.

Have enough cash to get either the Japanese or the English version.

But here's the problem:

Is that awesome extra where you can date that cute little blonde in a bikini removed from the English version? Cos if it is, Japanese Version It Is!!

-- Aww, sorry, Yui-chan I still love you.
