By darkness, I'm guessing you mean, death, destruction and angst for the characters?

Are the original character designs by the same Kippu who illustrated the Nourin LNs? The anime designs look similar to Nourin's, except for a few minor differences in artstyle.

I wonder if something is happening with the industry for this many split cours to be happening...we had alot of 2 cour shows in the first 2 seasons of this year and all of a sudden its decreasing.

I mean at least we are guaranteed 2 seasons with this trend.

Well, it was already confirmed for 2 cours since the author said we were getting 9 volumes and someone just said 12 episodes were listed.

Author mentioned in afterword for LN that anime will be 2-cour. As 12 eps announced for this season, it means split-core.

Split cours are less tiring for the workers and there is more time to release a higher quality product. I imagine that it would be cheaper as well.

I think he only mentioned 9 volumes to be animated not 2-cours series.

I doubt they are crazy enough to animate 9 vol. in 1-cour.

I doubt that the studio is so delusional they believe they can adapt 9 volumes worth of content into 1 cour.

I'm definitely not complaining about this show being split cour.

Wasn't today the preview event for the first episode in Tokyo aswell?

If so there should be some sort of review of it somewhere in the web - unless the first episode is Madan-like rushed (over half of the first volume in 1 episode) one cour for 9 volumes seems impossible.
