I did a trial on photoshop removing Kakashi's mask. Basically copy the composite color of the face and paste it on the mask. Added the smile.

also, we have seen a picture of him real young in the episode where they went through who trained everyone, it think it was the episode where the hokage had a funeral, but I'm not sure. But anyways in that episode he has his mouth covered and he is younger they we are supposed to see him in the movie.

Kakashi's best friend Uchiha Obito (Kakashi's team-mate when they was young) gifted his eye to Kakashi upon his own death, the implant was performed by Rin (team-mate of Hatake Kakashi and Uchiha Obito).

It's kind of like the running joke with Master Chief in the Halo series... you never see his face. Besides, as many have said, it would take much of the mystique out of his character.
