As an FYI the Da Vinci Disapperance DLC is pretty good.
It fills the gap between Sequence 8 and 9 and gives a small hint about Desmond and where the next Assassin's Game could take place. Also, it's rescuing Leonardo so why would you not buy it?

Damn the last battles in Rome are so lame. You can only use apple... wth? I had 1 of the target get outside of the playable zone... took ages for my assassins to kill him... Can't target with apple.

It's true that the three-four final battles preceding the final confrontation in Viana are kind of...repetitive - the only thing that changed IMHO is the number of allied participants and the geographical settings. The 'together for freedom' or whatever call was...particularly cheesy, too.
All in all, I quite enjoyed AC:B - lots of side quests and map portions to explore. Roma is indeed huge and full of things to restore, buy, invest in, etc. That's without mentioning the plethora of side quests (assassinations, Leonardo's Machines and the secret locations); I finally snagged Brutus' armor...but, holy guacamole, is it ugly. I far prefer the Drachen armor: at least it doesn't make me look like a mite-ridden thing that crawled away from an antique shop. XD AI is definitely swifter to answer (it seems to me that the Agiles are harder to catch unless I start kicking them - and Ezio's guarding stance is less tolerant towards attacks coming from the rear) but Ezio's far more aggressive moves make up for it. Rooftop guards are quicker to notice and engage you, too, which is more realistic IMHO. Two missions had me gnashing teeth, though: - The Aqueducts (AKA Aqua Gear): catching up with the German Templar was no small feat, what with the fixed POV constraint that is automatically triggered in some areas - I kept jumping into thin air because the camera kept fooling me and I was too late to adjust my incoming move. It's also quite aggravating that the bloody Templar keeps shooting at me right when I'm ropewalking or tiptoeing on top of a narrow ledge. - The flying machine: bloody hell is it cumbersome to maneuver around. The last part (the messenger riding away to warn Cesare) is particularly hard to catch unless you dive straight from the beginning and literally bomb him at a 90° angle. Long-distance shooting is a big no-no unless you've got the mother of all lucks. Some challenges are...vexing - like in the Lairs of Romulus (the catacombs and the basilica rooftop chase), where it's hard to complete the memory in a fixed time frame...unless you have ALREADY done it and thus know where to go, what to do, etc. The catacombs were particularly...frustrating, since I kept running in circles. Regardless, it was quite a fun game. I have yet to start the TDVD DLC, so right now, I'm still doing a few side quests (courtesan assignments, harlequin beatings, etc).

So I've had AC Brotherhood for three days now and I have to say that it's really fun to play. As far as single player goes, I really like the fact that there's VR training now, and ironically, I ended up being able to handle myself much better with the hidden blade than anything else The game itself is really cool except that with all the side quests that you have to do, it's quite easy to lose track of what is happening with the main plot. It was much easier to keep up with the story in AC2. That's all I'll say about single player mode because truth be told, I've hardly gotten far enough into it.
The reason I haven't made a lot of progress on the single player mode is because the multiplayer mode has seriously gotten my attention. It's without a shadow of doubt one of the best things I've seen in any game. It's intense, you're always on your toes and you have to work pretty hard to get silent kills (particularly because most players I've encountered don't seem to care and run around quite a lot). The number of things you can do to customize your profile is amazing. It's definitely one of the best thought out multiplayer games I've ever seen, and the fact that there's virtually no lag in the game makes it that much better. P.S. The Prowler is awesome. |

I'm gonna bump this thread For Great Justice.
I just finished the single player mode and WTF at the ending. No seriously, WTF!!!! Spoiler for Ending:
Other than that, my initial stance on the gameplay of the story mode is the same. There's too many side missions to do that deviate you from the main quest. In that sense, I liked AC2 much better because while it also had abundant side missions, they didn't deviate you too far from the story. I didn't like the fact that you could only speak to Leonardo if you didn't purchase all his models either. While I enjoyed the single player mode regardless, I found AC2 much better in this respect. The multiplayer still kicks ass tho, and it's what makes Brotherhood on the whole far better than its predecessors P.S. The Mercenary is awesome. |
