Fully agree. The artstyle is pretty good, a clear improvement over season 1 which looked a bit bland to me. Hopefully they manage to avoid QUALITY like Kanon pointed out.

The artstyle should reflect the tone of the source material, which is NOT a "cute girls doing cute things" series. Of course, when people bring up examples like THIS to worship the new artstyle, it's easy to jump in the bandwagon. For comparison, THIS was the first animated material out, which is acceptable in my opinion.

Frankly speaking, I have doubts about them pulling off some of the dark, edgelord faces, but it's not like I'm really comitted to watch S2, unless anime original ending. Most likely just gonna watch some clips on YT, if I care during its runtime.

I don't think it looks like a "cute girls doing cute things" series, especially when the male protagonist pops up at the very start, but it does look like a fun series starring a bunch of cute, expressive, girls which is accurate .

Staying with my opinion few posts up here.
This looks terrible, not that there was any doubt from a literal nobody studio. It should be alarming already how they can't even make a minute of cohesive animation to showcase 3 months before the premiere.

I was a little concerned about the lack of movement but the characters look lively to me, at least .

Yeahhh, totally not hopeful with that showcase of animation. It is a teaser, but I'm expecting more considering how long they have been stuck in limbo.

Is that a good thing? Or more like, how were Season 1 designs not lively compared to their manga counterparts?

Also, I hate how people bash Tezuka about Fuutarou's eye color. They spread misinformation that Tezuka ignored the source material and picked blue for him, when Negi depicted him with 3-4 different eye colors on the illustrations and blue was one among them. Just saying, but in OreGairu almost everyone has blue eyes in the illustrations and the studios decided to change it for the anime, yet I didn't see any complaints.

Apparently they have completely finished production before airing, so that should mean no delays this season .

The characters in season 1 looked more subdued to me compared to how they look now. I did like Futarou with blue eyes though .

Since they have used a page from the manga in the new style that already got adapted, found a comparison between the styles. Season one is way closer to the manga's style.

Makes me wonder how the hell did 5toubun got screwed this much if it sold like 600-800k after the anime boost? KanoKari had decent production from what I have seen, even though I despise the work and it wasn't even remotely as popular as 5toubun.

Here, the director says that they are "planning" to complete the production before airing to ease the worrying fans, not that it's already completed. It's also worth to note that the footage they have showcased is just Episode 1 material. Chapter 33 and 34 are easily identifiable, while Fuutarou with the test is Chapter 35 in my opinion.

Why should there be worriues here. It is normal to only 1-3 eps to be ready by the time airing swtarts. If the director hopes to ocmlete all eps befroe it, we can hope there will be no more delays inairing for sure.

Also "being finished on time" doesn't immediately imply decent animation quality. To be fair though, Bibury won't struggle too much in terms of character designs compared to Azur Lane's immense cast.

The pandemic was mentioned as a reason for another delay, hence director said that they are aiming to complete the whole thing before the January debut in case of further delay due to restricted operations.

And it's not normal. Ideally, a studio should aim for a healthy production. Tezuka only had 3 months to work with, dropped the longer trailer like 1-2 weeks before the premiere, and noticeably the quality went down from Episode 2 onwards already, minus Episode 11, the Shaft episode. Bibury dropped the first teaser in February, so they had plenty of time to work on this, yet so far the signs are not good at all. KanoKari also had disgustingly good productions, where they revealed all girls in trailers months before the premiere, even someone who debuted in the penultimate episode.

Marcus is also right, although I don't think character designs are the challanging part, but the any sort of movement. Some of the lip flaps in this PV seem off, even though it's basic stuff.
