to be fair "its legal" 16 years old is considered "legal" specially if the "parents approve, you can marry at the "age of 16" in japan even with "old peoples" it's just not see as "good eyes" in many cases, then they normally prefer to wait until the person is at last 18 in some cases but you can have sex with old peoples at 16 years as long its not prostitution or porn (which is illegal the minimum age for then is 18 however japaneses rules have some "loopholes", which while don't allow to have sex you can "do others things" when comes to the "girlfriend service and others type of services").

I haven’t seen the 44th chapter so I can’t comment, but I can say this: Poor dad. It’s no wonder Koto feels emotionally repressed and inwardly miserable on the inside. After reviewing past chapters, it’s no wonder she doesn’t want to go home and escape as often as she could. She has no sense of independence or freedom under her mother’s roof. Said parent knows this, which is way she’s going out of her to deeply involve in her daughters interpersonal relations in obscure ways.

To me, Koto’s dependence on the dad stems not by a crush, but sees him as a means of “escape”. Think about it: when she’s with him, she’s more expressive of her feelings, she’s happy, and doesn’t feel smothered by her mundane, yet, very claustrophobic home life. I still think it’s weird that she’s seducing him to cross a certain line, but for when it’ll be crossed, is something we’ll have to wait and see.

But like I said: I’m no author so I can’t really say much. Just going along for the ride.

Not exactly, 16 is national law. Most prefectures upping it to eighteen. Specifically in Tokyo she is still illegal irc.
