It's pretty much, what, a year and a half between seasons? 3 months to air, 5 months to finish releasing discs (since usually the first comes out while it airs), and then a short wait before an announcement of the next season (2 or so months), then another 6 before it airs.
Seems like a good system. |

Well, personally I'm just glad that we are getting a confirmation that season 3 is going to be released.
Although, I hope that they won't cut a lot of events from volume 5 and 6 just to fit it into a 12 episode format (still having a small degree of hope that season 3 will actually have 24 episodes) - since I think those volumes contain a lot of events ... that at least I would like to see animated... |

They have to use at least 2 vol. Altough I dont understand producers only use 2 vol ! If you take year and a half to make a season at least make more epsoide. Infinite stratos producers use 4 vol just for one season. Not the mention they make the anime parallel as the novels. They end second season when there is no novel left to animate. (vol7) on the other hand dxd has almost 18 novel that means a lot of material. I dont know what keeping them. Only possible explanation is dxd is not popular enough in japan.

Vol 1 - 297 pages, 5 episodes Vol 2 - 315 pages, 6 episodes Vol 3 - 309 pages, 6 episodes Vol 4 - 334 pages, 6 episodes Vol 5 - 379 pages, ? episodes Vol 6 - 285 pages, ? episodes With 12 episodes to work with, it's safe to assume they can easily fit volume 5 into 7 episodes and volume 6 into 5 episodes. |

They weren't used in season 2, so there's no saying they'd be used in season 3. There's always OVAs for those, especially since they're, you know, side stories. And outside of the one where Issei gets his Pawns fiddled with and possibly the Satan Ranger one (if they aren't the same one), none of them really have any impact on the main story or characters at all.
