It's been a long road, but we've finally made it! Volume 100, baby!
 Credit goes to AP's ScotchInformer/Redon/etc. for the goods:-Let's kick things off with... FUTURE ROBIN!!! -Here's the human form of Kaidou's kanabo (his club weapon), which is named Hassaikai, BTW: -Shinobu has an elder brother! His name is Shinosuke and he too, is loyal to the Kouzuki clan. He continues to take care of his younger sibling. -This is interesting: Oda delves a bit into Cypher Pol's structure. Basically, CP1-8 are made up of government spies who are assigned tasks based on their level of importance. As for CP9, they're comprised of assassins whose duty is to erase those considered the greatest hindrance to the WG. And as far as CP0 goes, their purpose is to be the bodyguards of the Celestial Dragons, so they're the strongest of the CP organization. -Someone asks whether or not Black Maria is a SMILE user due to her hybrid form's appearance. Oda speculates that Maria may be using a drug similar to the Rumble Ball to alter her appearance, as her "standard" hybrid form would look unappealing, otherwise: -Seems Oda implies that the techniques Roger and Oden used in the latter flashback ("Kamusari" and "Paradise Totsuka", respectively) are both imbued with Conqueror's haki. -Another fascinating one! Page One and Ulti are indeed blood-related siblings! Their father was a pirate, but he ended up passing away. That's when they came across Kaidou, who took care of the both of them. Ulti, being clever as she is, stole two Devil Fruits from Kaidou, and ate them with her little brother, Pay-Pay. But rather than being punished, it seems Kaidou was impressed enough by their daring to promote them to the Flying Six! ------------------------------- So, while we're at it, how about some misc. info from the recent Vivre Card update? Believe it or not, but it's official that Yamato joins Mugiwara because of....a collection of towels! Because of Covid, even the publication of the manga was delayed more than expected, but the deals for the merchandising were already sealed and so it came out the new collection of towels of mugiwaras and Yamato is among them.

Hello, hello, friends! Volume 101 releases this week, so you know what that means!
Credit goes to AP's Redon and co. for the info + pics:-Let's start off with.... FUTURE FRANKY!!!!! -Here's an interesting one: A fan asks if Shimotsuki Ushimaru (who was shown during Yamato's flashback in chapter 1024) is Zoro's father. Oda flatly denies this. What's more, he goes on to reveal a bit more about the imprisoned samurai from that chapter: -Oda introduces us to Shanks' crew! Or more specifically, the commanders: -Someone asks Oda about the OP Youtubers (presumably just the Japanese ones) who post theory videos. He answers that he's aware of them, and is pretty shocked at how detailed their theories can be. However, he stopped watching their videos because he doesn't want to get "corrupted" by fans who can predict him so accurately, heh. After all, he needs to draw the series in a way that everyone can enjoy, casual and hardcore fans alike. -Someone asks how King eats through his mask. Oda shows how: -We now have the human form of Yamato's kanabo weapon (which, BTW, is named Takeru): -Lastly, a look at how Killer would have looked if the SMILE he ate were functional: That's about it for now. However.... apparently, there isn't much in the way of substantial info this time around, sadly. Anyway, credit to AP's Redon and co. for the good stuff::-We get introduced to Kid's crew! Or at least, most of them, anyway. He has 31 members total, but Oda shows off 22 people here: -Remember this color spread from a while back? ^Well, someone finally commented on it! Particularly, they were curious about Bepo, because they figured that he, Penguin, and Shachi were all considered the "No. 2" of the Heart Pirates. Oda confirms that the latter two are more handy outside of battle, but Bepo otherwise has an edge over them due to his Sulong form. As for the spread itself, Oda points out that not everyone in that spread is a vice-captain (he clearly singled out Zoro as not being one). Still, he nonetheless considers all these characters to be the No. 2 of their respective crews. And yeah, that's about it. Hopefully, the next SBS will be a bit meatier with new info.... |

It's been a while, but now volume 103 is upon us, which means a new SBS! Credit goes to AP's Redon and co. for the info:
-Let's kick things off with.... BEAST PIRATES AS KIDS!!! -Oda explains the origin of the rivalry between Raizou and Fukurokuju! As it turns out, Fuku had a little sister named Fukumi who Raizou was in love with. He once saved her life during a mission, and Fukumi, who in turn loved Raizou, tried to kiss him. However, the ninja got flustered, accidentally shoved her aside, then ran away in shame. Some time later, Fukumi fell ill, and eventually died. Her last words were Raizou's name, which she muttered out of longing.... but Fukurokuju misinterpreted as being said out of hate. From then on, he swore he'd never forgive Raizou for his perceived mistreatment of his sister. In fact, his elongated head and earlobes grew to their length from his fury toward his rival (I guess similar to how Denjirou's face changed out of his hatred towards Orochi). -Someone asks if Chuji, the mouse belonging to the geisha Osome who Sanji rescued, is related to the same mouse that Sanji fed when he was with Germa in his childhood. Oda answers no, despite their similar looks. He also points out that the fact that Sanji saved that mouse is proof he still has a human heart, despite the strength gained through the power of science. He also makes sure to point out that Sanji's "invisibility" is more of a speed-based technique, so he won't be able to use it to spy on bathing women, heh. -Someone asks for Nami's phone number so they can ask her out on a date. Oda reveals it, but warns the reader to be careful of Sanji, who can track them down by tracing the call, lol. The number, BTW, is 7373-737373 (basically read as repeating Nami's name over and over again, heh). -Someone asks how long Yamato has been friends with Fuuga of the Numbers. Oda says he wish he could have drawn their backstory, but didn't have enough time amidst all the fighting. Anyway, he reveals that Fuuga has "horse power" because one day he stole and ate a SMILE from Kaidou's room when he was really hungry. The enraged emperor had the Number imprisoned as punishment for his actions. The other Numbers made fun of him for his hooves, but Yamato told himshe thought they were cool, and from then on they became good friends. This story also happened to be included in the Road to Laugh Tale , a series of mini databooks released while the series was on its month-long break. -Someone asks if King's "Karyuu Udon" attack is a pun on the name of the dish curry udon. Oda confirms that to be the case, and notes that while King's favorite food is flying fish sashimi, he likes curry udon, as well. -Oda confirms that killing Orochi requires you to slice off his head eight times. This is one of the powers of the Mythical Zoan Hebi Hebi (snake) no Mi, model Yamato no Orochi. -Someone asks what a typical monthly schedule for the Straw-Hats is like. Oda says the only ones who really concern themselves with schedules are Nami, Sanji, and Robin. The crew usually don't celebrate birthdays, since they'll find an excuse to celebrate at just about any time. So basically, the schedule for most of the crew is "free time", heh. -Someone asks which food from Wano is the Straw-Hats' favorites. Oda gives a list: Quote:

My wholehearted apology for this one, guys..... I had meant to address the latest SBS for some time, but it just kept slipping my mind!
Anyway, info courtesy of AP's Redon and co.:-A really interesting one right off the bat: Someone asks what drove Kid and Killer to become a pirate, as well as how they recruited Heat and Wire. Oda answers with a little story: All four of them were born on the same island in South Blue, and as mentioned in previous SBS columns, Kid and Killer were childhood friends. Their homeland was one that existed outside of WG control, and was ruled by a powerful crime syndicate that, for all intents and purposes, acted as that nation's "royalty". The island comprised of four districts, each of which had their own outlaw groups.... the respective leaders of which were none other than Kid, Killer, Heat, and Wire. They were constantly in conflict with each other until, one day, a close friend of Kid's was killed by the ruling syndicate.... a girl named Victoria S. Doruyanaika (aka the girl Kid and Killer had a crush on, as also revealed in past SBS columns). Filled with grief and rage, Kid banded their gangs together, launched a coup against the syndicate, and eventually overthrew them! After settling that business, Kid decided that he felt too constrained in his home country, and formed a pirate crew with his buddies. Thus, they set sail in their ship, the Victoria Punk. -We learn the hobbies of the Tobi Roppou/Flying Six: Quote:
-According to Oda, Reiju's poison absorption power comes from he raid suit, but as the Vinsmoke children's bodies were modified to adapt to their respective abilities, it's still possible for her to absorb poison even without the suit's aid. Apparently, it just depends on whether or not she feels up to the task. -Hiyori managed to sneak into Onigashima by hiding among Orochi's tributes to Kaidou. -The human forms of Zoro's haramaki and earrings: -Oda introduces this guy.... ^...as Sennorikyuru, a master of tea ceremonies, and the best cook in all of Wano. -Last, but not least, we finally get the names of the non-former CP9 agents of CP0: That's about it for now. -First and foremost: ODA REVEALS ZORO'S FAMILY TREE!!!! ^The long and short of it is that YES, ZORO IS A SHIMOTSUKI DESCENDANT. -Someone asks if it's possible for Chopper to cure the laughing side effects of failed SMILEs. Oda answers that's beyond Chopper's ability, and that there's pretty much no helping that situation. On the bright side, Killer's fits of laughter helped lighten up the mood of the Kid pirates, so something similar could apply to those affected in Wano! -This one pertains to Tama: ^Simply put, TAMA IS A KUROZUMI!!!! That's right, the same clan as Orochi! Also, Oda addresses Hiyori's line that caused so much controversy when the chapter first came out, saying she specifically directed it towards Orochi. But interestingly, he muses what everyone's reaction would be if they found out Tama's lineage, and I must say I feel the same...... -Oda confirms that the actor Harada Yoshio was the model for Ryokugyu, and that the marine Kurouma (introduced in chapter 1054) is based on an actor named Kobayashi Akira. -Someone asks if the Straw-Hats who joined later are aware of the crew's earlier adventures in East Blue. Oda answers that of the veteran members, some don't really talk about the past (Luffy, Zoro), some will talk about it if asked (Nami, Sanji, Chopper), and Usopp will gladly boast about his past adventures, even if not asked. However, the newer members can easily see through his lies, so they just go to Nami, Sanji, or Chopper for their stories, heh. -Apparently, manga doesn't exist in the OP world, but there are picture books and "emonogatari" (illustrated stories) that pretty much serve as the equivalent of manga. Some of the more famous stories in that format include "Sora, Warrior of the Sea", "Fire Dog", "Pokeemon" (yep, a Pokemon parody), "Monkey Ball" (Dragon Ball parody), and "Maruko-san" (parody of Chibi Maruko-chan). -Another neat one: Someone notices that Sanji's eyebrows were reversed back in chapter 1031, but they went back to normal in chapter 1044. Oda explains that this can be traced back to what we learned about him in the WCI arc, when his siblings were born with an exoskeleton and unique powers due to manipulation of their Lineage Factor. But as we recall, Sanji's mother ensured that he was born a normal human. However, thanks to the raid suit, his latent powers were unleashed, which reversed his eyebrows to the "66" position.... the same as the rest of his siblings. So it seems his brows only switch once the power of Germa's science manifests within him. Oda notes to keep watch over Sanji in the future.... Man, this was a damn good SBS! Easily one of the best in a long time! So much juicy info here (though I wish the Tama thing could've been more directly addressed in the main story instead of such a subtle hint..... but whatever, I'll take what I can get, lol). Fingers crossed for the next one to be just as juicy!
