Economics and politics have definitely prevailed.
Such a shame it wasn't well balanced with fights.
This could've been such a great anime.
The goblin thing improved the action part, but the tug-of-war with People of the Land is now simply annoying.
It puzzles me how this got a double season when so much better anime didn't.
Just one more episode left and still not much is happening.
I won't miss this when it's gone.

Did this sell? Do we have anychange for new season. So good anime deserves another season.

Says you.
The politics and trade part is some of the best parts of the series.
Though they aren't shown as well as they were in the novel (i blame too much focus on Scrub Horizon and other changes made from the Novels personally).

Hope they will make a new season, once there are enough novels for that (or they could ball novels 6 and 7 into one anime shown side by side and expand on the stuff that was happening, without cutting stuff out).

From the last thread somebody said this isn't selling that much in japan, and the author is in talks with NHK for a possible second season.

As one of the few people who enjoyed maoyuu maou yuusha, I really think "talking heads" episodes like this, which is almost always about how the field is set up, who the enemies are and all the machinations and maneuvering they're doing to outwit each other are very exciting, much like the first few episodes of code geass where lelouch was playing chess with mechas against the vastly superior force. Maybe I'm just weird, and maybe I need to watch spice and wolf.

The story is interesting enough for me not to be bothered with the animation quality, I'm just thinking that I was transported back to the early 2000s when I'm watching this

If they're introducing the best girl in ep25, then I really do hope a s2 of this comes along, it's such a shame to introduce new characters this late in the series without them doing anything substantial.

Yes, same here and it was a rare sight seeing him frustated.

BTW, I've noticed something but someone compared Lord Marves sniffing Raynesia's hair to that infamous near-rape scene from SAO Ep. 24! Someone is making a joke out of this since both shows have 25 episodes.

So far there are no data on disc sales for Log Horizon in the compilation thread here.

Ratings data are no longer available the way they were through 2012, either. I know that Log Horizon has not broken into the top-ten anime shows, but those are largely dominated by family and kids programs like Sazae-san. Of the types of programs routinely discussed by AS members, only Uchuu Kyoudai ("Space Brothers") has broken into the top-ten over the past few months. See the various weekly ratings reports on ANN like this one for details.

Since the criterion for entering the top-ten in some weeks is as low as a 3.5% rating, we can infer that Log Horizon gets viewership figures below that. Of course, it is NHK, for whom ratings matter a lot less than they do for commercial broadcasters.

Not too many references to merchandise in the thread here either. Akatsuki is the obvious choice for a figurine, but I don't see them anywhere. Some shows like Chihayafuru provided a major boost in sales of the manga on which they are based. The figures on manga and light novel sales at MyAnimeList provide no support for a similar boost to Log Horizon sales. I looked at a sample of recent weeks, and the Log Horizon novel never appears in the list. That's not too surprising given its age, but it does mean one of the common rationales for anime productions doesn't apply to this show.

Uh....
At the point Major and Phi Brain, both of which aired in NHK-E and sold like molded stone pebbles and watched by nobody, got full six seasons and three seasons respectively to cover its contents, why in the bloody hell are you guys even bothering with these so-called "ratings and sales figures"?

NHK-E does not give a flying hoot about those, and it's been proven many times.

I thought that was a Japanese staple for showing that someone was a creepbag, considering I've seen it used before SAO (not that I can remember the name of the shows, though).

I made that point myself. I was only answering the question asked by Jarppa.

NHK may well decide to continue on with Log Horizon for "quality" reasons. I just pointed out that sales and ratings figures don't provide any rationale for a second season.

In fact, like Log Horizon, NHK seems to pick up properties after they have become popular or won awards. Junni Kokki, Hyouge Mono and Moshidora are all examples, as was perhaps Kemono no Sou-ja Erin. In most of these adaptations, the original material had already reached its conclusion, and the entire story was contracted to the studios.

Just WHAT were you expecting from this?

If anything, the author of Log Horizon have gotten the SOCIAL aspect of a Massive Multiplayer Online RPG better than its predecessors.

Pretty much only thing we need here is just one thing.

MAMARE, GET TO WORK WE NEED MOAR VOLUMES

That's pretty much it.

(Also, Twelve Kingdoms was actually NHK, not NHKE, so it's not entirely the same standards - although I have no doubt NHK was willing to continue the series if the author wasn't on hiatus for soooooo long.)

Probably. It was in the novel, so it's certainly not the anime staff making a joke. And like you, I'm certain I've seen it before though I couldn't say where.

I liked how Shiroe referred to Soujirou's guild as his fangirls.

so they are introducing a new character last episode huh, well it's been a good time with this series I really enjoyed it.

Maybe if they do a 2nd season based on Honey moon log or West Wind Brigade before the real sequel? maybe even Kanami's story?
