From what I understand almost all the strange things in the world was they're doing. From Morganna turning into a rouge program, the creation of the AIDA virus in GU, and the whole memory erasing of the .hackers in Link. This was all a plan to enslave humanity inside a virtual world like the Matrix.

The actual term MAMA is first used in the New Testament Epitaph that is included in the limited edition of LINK. Otherwise, the organization is only vaguely hinted.

Though, AIDA is not responsible by them. But Morganna is just as planned. Though, MAMA's ideology is to save the world instead of enslaving humanity.

BTW, Genius got fired in 2024. As he is against the plan of mass producing Aura.

Okay enslave seems like too harsh of a word however it still doesn't change the fact that they're trying to imprison people against they're will.

Well I have theory that MAMA's content experiments with the world inadvertently brought about the creation of AIDA but thats for another thread altogether.

Strange. The bonus Extension Disc (DVD) that comes with "The World Edition" has a couple of trailers for the movie that end with the line "Project Begins 2009". So the movie was in development that long and the trailers were released that long ago (possibly 2008)?!
I've never seen those trailers nor heard of the movie till late 2011.

The footage used in the trailers is a combo of 2D animation for depicting the real world and 3D for the game world.
3D scenes from the trailers are exclusive and do not appear in the final cut of the film, yet they appear to be of the same high quality as in final cut; and 2D animation (for the real world) had been replaced with stylized 3D.

Yeah, the movie is complete trash. The first part is basically an introduction to MMOs, as if the first part of Roots wasn't enough torture for existing fans.

Spoiler:

I mean, the whole thing feels like it was targeted at children and basically saying they want to restart the franchise, not finish it. Environmental graphics and effects were awesome, but character animation and textures were fucking terrible. The saving grace were fight scenes with Aura and her security avatars, those were pretty slick.

The movie was decent if you watch it with little to no expectations. But if you are a serious .hack fan you will be disappointed. Personally I found it to be somewhat enjoyable but at the same time some of the CGI features and script felt horrid at times.

The original .hack anime that came with each game still takes the cake for me. The concept of making a game about MMOs is awesome especially if handled right, seeing new series like sword art pop up and such really attracts me as a gamer. Cant wait to see what else people come up with and make.

Anyway, I haven't watched any of it since I've been busy playing grand chase---but my friends keep saying that it was awesome so maybe it's time for me to start downloading it

At start when i watch the real world art i was thinking what the heck is this. Then in when i saw the virtual world i dropped my jaw.
Still the plot is simple and short which basically aim for acquiring .hack new fan.

The OST are fabulous.

the movie was average imo since im an adult, but for a kids show its great, the visuals are cool if the ending battle scenes could have been more action packed then i guess i will score it even higher
