I'd be curious to hear what someone like Aoi Yuuki thinks of this meme.

TIL that the "5 meters" line in this episode was actually referring to a provision in the Antarctic Treaty, namely that you cannot be closer than 5 meters away from penguins, hence why Hinata was trying to prevent Shirase from getting too close.

The Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty prohibits interfering with any of the wildlife in Antarctica. In a documentary I saw recently, they said that even if there's a seal that's wandered away from the ocean and is going to die on the ice, they can't help it out. They just have to let nature take its course. Last edited by BBOvenGuy; 2018-03-09 at 02:43. Reason: Mixed metaphor... |

Another good episode... must have been really a sad life for Yuzuki-chan... so this is the first time friends celebrated her birthday. Nice to see that she really is happy when seeing the cake they made for her. No need for the "friendship contract" because they are already friends. ^^

Well, with such secluded, isolated ecosystems, protecting them from external interference and contamination is a pretty big deal. Imagine if you carried a flu virus that can be transmitted to birds and that penguins have no immune defences against.

I mentioned before that Antarctic tourism is becoming so big in China that the government had to issue a specific directive not to touch the penguins.

I admit this wasn't the best episode, but that final bit with Yuzuki got me good. I'd say she needs a hug, but Kimari's got that covered. On that note, I did like to have another episode that focuses on her, and that bit with the penguin was hilarious and adorable. So was Hinata and Kimari looking for a defrosting spot. This show always nails the small moments.
Who says you can't have only one goal? You say that like it would be enough to stop Shirase. |

Mari, you were warned to keep your face covered, weren't you? This is why.
This was really good. From their starting point as strangers merely working together to travel to the same place, these girls have forged a really strong friendship. Arg... I wanted to hug Hinata so much in this episode...

I'm really glad they showed more of Hinata's past. Every main character so far in this show really shines in their own way so far. This anime really got me invested in its character cast tbh.
