Texas SMASH kinda lacked intensity. Wonder how All Might's voice will be when he changes to his skinny form.

Deku's a real badass when it comes to outdo his enemies using his own wits. I know I'll love his quirk to evolve into something more powerful but I hope he remains like this for some time.

Actually, he was outdone against Todoroki. Deku assumed he would grab the million headband, but Todoroki had expected that and swaped the headbands so Deku grabbed the useless 70. If it had been gone only after Deku's wits/efforts he and his team would have lost.
It is thanks to shadow hawk who used his chance to grab Todoroki's team headband that they made it into the next round.

So yeah, Deku's wits aren't all that hot. His luck is incredible though. XD

Things played out fairly well

One thing i love is the little details... Tokodori has the headband on his head; electric boy shorted out(he was limitting the shadow attacks); buzzer goes off, while shadow is in swiping motion and tokodori is no longer wearing a headband. Got that headband at pretty much the last second

A bit disappointing that more people from other departments didn't make into the finals, but i actually kinda like the life lesson in this one... The ones who make it to the top are those that always aim for the top, not the guys who would settle for second place. The Copy Cat was only concerned with staying in the game, remaining in the top 4 and didn't care about #1; but Baku's drive to be #1 gave him the drive to fight as hard as possible. In a way, you could say that the reason Baku beat him is because Baku literally wanted those points a whole lot more.

In the end, most of class A gets into the finals, plus gadget girl and slave boy. Not sure who is on Slave boy's team, though they look like a forgettable bunch, which is disappointing. I mean sure they'll get eliminated in the next round anyway, but i would have preferred if they were atleast a bit more colorful... like the girl with the thorny bramble hair or the guy with the mantis head... I'd like to see more characters outside class A get some attention. Granted, it is kind of inevitable... There is so much imagination behind these throwaway characters that you want to see more of them, but that would take too much time; if their was less imagination we would not care about not seeing them again, but then conflicts like this would lose some of their flavor. Kind of a catch 22

Also, i can't help but wish that Tsyuru was on Baku's team in place of the Tape guy.

The Slave boy's team was composed of Yuuga (tummy laser dude) and Mashirao (tail dude), both are Class A members. There was also an unknown third member from another class.

I'm not gonna lie.... Kaminari pretty much made the chapter for me ("herpa derpy doo!"). It's also nice that we got to see how Mineta lost his headband (it getting snatched away by that girl with the vine quirk).


Anyways.... I can see the slave master kid becoming a real pesky one in the future.... to the point that I'm sorta wondering if the author is building him up to be a future villain. At least, that could be one reason why he was so prominently featured in that recent color page....

He's from chapter 23, page 10/11 (had more panels than the crazy eyed B class guy who had only 2 panels XD), a GE (General Education) kid who basically declared war on the entire heroic department by himself. And so far he is doing a good job at it as it looks like the entire B class (expect the chubby guy who might be B-class as well) got kicked out in the horsemen tournament. And he got his nickname which is either Slave master kid or Slaver mind kid due how he got past the first trial with letting mindless students carry him through the obstacles, chapter 24 page 12.

Oh is that who they were... Well since i find them pretty forgetable, i'll stand by my Statement

I don't think so. I mean that splash page had him running WITH all the other heroes. If he was meant to be a future villain, i don't think he'd been included in that splash page, much less on the same side as the heroic kids; if anything, he would be standing opposite of them, or looming ominously in the distance. Seems likely he'll end up being part of the secondary cast... Heck if i recall they DID say that students could switch classes based on their performance. He could very well be switched into class A when this is all over.

Makes me wonder if Gadget Girl will be placed in the heroics class. on the one hand it would be the easiest way to make her part of the secondary cast of characters, however she does seem to like her role as support and thus remaining with the support class would be more fitting... Granted, just because she's in the support class doesn't mean she can't be worked into the story. Deku could end up meeting up with her between classes or after school on a semi-regular basis to pick up support gear or something.

Not to mention, the zombie boy isn't even in the hero classes, since he said he is aiming ot teach them a lesson and that the festival can make you change classes. Seems like to me that he is only aiming for the top like Bakugou but more calmly

^Well, at least that flat-out confirms that the guy has some sort of slavery/mind control quirk! Y'know, it would be funny if his power proved to be effective on Bakugou considering how he already got possessed by that mud monster in the first chapter....

Speaking of spoilers, I found a Japanese spoiler summary! Here's what I can make out through good ol' machine translation:

Spoiler for 31:

I believe Todoroki asks Deku if he's the bastard son of All Might, due to the similarity of their quirks. Deku denies it, of course. Todoroki then talks about his father (I believe he said Endeavor was the #2-ranked hero for 5 years now), and tells Deku that he must win the festival.

Back to All Might and Endeavor, All Might says that Endeavor's son held back half his strength during that last match (not sure if he's talking about the fire powers or his overall strength), and that it was a great performance. The second-ranked hero says that while his son is in his rebellious phase now, he'll eventually surpass all of his peers. However, it seems he reveals himself to be a real dick, as the summary mentions something about Endeavor marrying Todoroki's mother (who of course has ice powers) for the sake of producing a strong child. In fact, Todoroki remembers his mother was always crying....


I think Todoroki then tells Deku that he wants to deny his old man the #1 hero spot. It's also revealed that Bakugou was overhearing their conversation. We then cut to the scene with the cheerleaders mentioned in the above post, and I think Mineta's messing around with them, lol. Anyways, after the lunch break ends, the final preliminary event is revealed: A tournament that pits the remaining 16 first-years against each other....!!!!

Looks like it pretty much matches up with the summary I posted earlier. We also kinda see Todoroki's mom, but only from the back. Actually, I've seen some speculation that we might have seen his mother's face on the color splash page of the very first chapter (the woman's face on the right-hand billboard).... that would be interesting if that's true!

BTW, it looks like not just Mineta, but Kaminari was also in on getting the 1-A girls to dress as cheerleaders (I wonder if we'll ever actually see that invisible girl, lol? ). But anyways, tournament next chapter! I'm usually not the biggest fan of them, but I'm actually pretty excited for THIS one!

Pretty sure that Bakugou recognizes the BOTH of them as rivals. His dream is to be the #1 hero, so I think it's sorta natural that he'd keep an eye on anyone who's capable of challenging him, not just Deku.

So yeah, Endeavor is pretty much an ass, alright. He knows he can't match up to All Might, so he set up a "quirk marriage" between him and Todoroki's mother for the sole sake of producing a strong child who will one day surpass the strongest hero (looks like a lot of money was involved in getting those two together). What's worse is that NEITHER parent seems to love Todoroki. His father merely sees him as a tool, and the mother abused him. That's why he wants to prove that he can become the strongest hero without relying on his heat powers, but of course, Deku refuses to sit idly by and let him have his way despite hearing his sob story!

@ Seeing Invisible Girl: No, I don't think we will ever see her. I mean, short of wrapping her up in cloth, I don't think that it's possible for her to "turn off" her invisibility. That said, she does appear to have a relatively impressive bust size from the latest scans.
