He was always relying on his anti-SG power so he haven't been using his natural devil magic, so to speak. He is Lucifer's and Lilith's son after all. I wonder what the original Lucifer's powers were? Or even Lilith for that matter.

I hope he doesn't just up and find a way to re-negate Issei's attacks, seeing as how that'd be a complete waste of a cool new ability.

Unless that sets up for even more Gurren Laganning, which I'm okay with.

What he said. I think this was a way to help us with the debate of the whole devil/dragon thing. I think Crom sees great potential in Ise and wants to know what side of the fence Ise will be on. It could be seen as a way to find out how he feels about the dragon part of himself.
