Rereading vol. 17, anyone has idea who was the oldman that visited Yakumo during new year greeting?
It explained that Tatsuya somehow felt a chill (not because it was January

) when that oldman staring him.
And afterward, from Tatsuya's conversation with Yakumo, Yakumo remarked that even though Tatsuya has special eyes, he still couldn't see beyond life or death.

At first reading, I thought Yakumo's remark just an answer to Tatsuya regarding Tatsuya's birth situation. But after rereading it, I think it's possible Yakumo remarked like that because Tatsuya couldn't see who/what the oldman is.

Is it possible that oldman a necromancer?

I don't think so. The conversation was just about tatsuya birth situation. The old man is probably from another shinobi sect, similar to yakumo.

Yeah, kinda reading it too much. But Yakumo's remark was very interesting, although it was in accordance with his mischievous trait.

His remark is more about him not believing everything about them not being siblings. Actually, there is quite a lot of people doubting that fact.

Somehow I interpreted it doubly. On the surface, the remark is for birth situation, while the other side it's like a quip because Tatsuya didn't talk the strangeness about that old man.

But yeah, in the end, the other interpretation is only "what if", not the actual fact

I think the quip is more likely the fact that tatsuya does not know how he was born even though he knows a lot of stuff.

There are still secrets. Maya is still holding back details. So for all we know she might've been telling the truth, or Tatsuya's origins may be less natural than we were initially lead on to believe.

What I'm trying to say is that the timing of the whole engagement, in tatsuya opinion, is very suspicious rather than the engagement itself.

He just does not have that kind of feeling towards miyuki. He just going to act like an appropriate couple to miyuki. It is extremely hard for a familial bond to change into a romantic love. On the other hand, it is easier for it to be the other way around.

Leaving aside Battalion 101, Kouichi has been sniffing about Tatsuya, so with the engagement, it's just like stating, "Tatsuya is Yotsuba's, don't dare to snatch"

About that bond, Tatsuya reasoned because familial bond can't be severed while it's not the case with bound with engagement.
Even so, Tatsuya would be jealous if Miyuki to choose someone for her romantic love.

So I meant with "sort out his feeling", is he will ask Miyuki to be always with him. I think for Miyuki, that's more than enough (for now), whether it's familial love or romantic love.

But it's true that it's hard to change from familial love to romantic love and it's even harder for Tatsuya.

I don't think tatsuya show any hint of jealousy for miyuki. In fact, I have more of an impression that he ships miyuki to masaki sometimes.

He will always want to be with miyuki. It just depends of what form miyuki want it to be and I think he is okay with just about any form (being husband and wife might be challenging).

It was scene when Tatsuya coming home after meeting with Katsuto and Mayumi.

Tatsuya's reasoning was explained in those lines.

Except that was the narrative telling us why Miyuki is acting the way she is in v18 and there was no mention of Tatsuya feeling jealous in that part too. That part was mostly from Miyuki POV.

I thought the narrative from Tatsuya's POV, because the scene before about was about Tatsuya (After Tatsuya escorting Mayumi).

Now you mention it, it indeed from narrative for Miyuki. Thanks for correction.
