Unfortunately he did not.

all his potential love interest went off to explore other worlds.

His mother did come back though and we find out the truth about his parents.

His father is a worrier who goes around saving other worlds.
His mother is actually dragon that his father met in another world.

Pretty much, after keeping up with the story for so long this ending has left me feeling both relieved and kind of empty inside.
