I don't know. I'm thinking Kiyoka offered him better terms, or simply that he wanted to get rid of her (he'd still see her if she married Kouji's brother). I'm also pretty sure Miyo isn't welcome into the house anymore even if she gets rejected by her husband, they made it rather clear it was a farewell. I also very much doubt he thought Kiyoka would care enough about Miyo to actually investigate her past.
