Quite different indeed. Not only does this one sound male, but he's rather calm & eloquent compared to the berserkers we've seen previously (Hercules, Spartacus, etc.).

Also note that his shapeshifting ability seems more suited to the Assassin class. It's like he was originally supposed to be an Assassin class servant, then someone on the writing team decided to just change him to a berserker without really thinking it through.

My only exposure to this franchise has been through the anime though, so there may be reasons for this that I'm not aware of. Oh well, it'll be interesting to see how all this plays out.

Spartacus could speak in Apocrypha. Berserkers being unable to speak stopped being a thing ages ago because then they'd have no character. In FGO 99% of Berserkers can speak just fine.

That said, why Jack is sane was explained in the episode: according to him, he was so crazy in life that being summoned as a Berserker reversed the mad enhancement and made him sane instead.
