Double plot twist. Elias use to be part of the "shadow" yet reunited through "fate."

I mean if part of the shadow was always with Chise and Elias's essence is shadow then its possible.
The shadow manipulates memories, mental states and is implied that it eats people. Elias could of separated himself away from this "shadow" (in the past) but lost his memories in the process but kept some of the essence of the shadows whole. i.e. now had the urge to eat but doesn't need to. As well as being a shadow himself.
When Chise was sold perhaps Elias noticed a simular "feeling"? Anyways just ideas. I mean we hardly know what he truly is and what he was.
