It's probably because of her close friendship with Mayumi. The new volume might focus on Mayumi and Mari will play a great supporting role. Also, if the Hundred Families are involved in the selection of the Ten Master Clans then it makes even more sense for Mari to have significant presence in the volume. Of all Tatsuya's acquaintances who are from the Hundred families, Mari is the closest to Mayumi.
