Yeah, Word Master is similar to Tate Yuusha in plot device, but that's it. Differences, in Word Master: plot is a bit lighter but does not lack plot twist, Hiiro luck is not bad like Naofumi.

Mana is more like a sub-character that help Main characters develop. She knows Miho and become her friend, she then lost her, and raped. She is saved by Takahiro, but Takahiro, Lily, Rose didn't trust her. Mana is envy of the bonds between Takahiro and his family. She actually want to join the circle, because she is the only one not considered as friend by Takahiro and his family. She is quiet, but very perceptive of other feelings, this trait of her help her gain trust and become friend with Rose, but not with Takahiro, since Takahiro himself has PTSD. Also, her stare sometimes can raise boogies to others.
