I had kind of figured that since he was weak, he got killed off quickly; therefore, because of the fact that he was an anti hero, he corrupted the Grail once he returned to it. Kind of like how most of the Servants went to Sakura when they died in Heaven's Feel (sans Archer)? Or is that basically the same thing you said?
