Yeah, there definitely is. For anime fans it seems to basically mean "loads of girls fall for a guy", which, is actually incorrect. A harem is only a harem as long as the girls
agree to share the guy, be it in love, marriage, or whatever. I do enjoy a good harem themed story every now and then, but I feel it's a little degrading to call some of the better stories "harems".
Well, the main difference is that the "harem" genre only seems to apply to Japan. Oh, and I vaguely remember watching that film. Good stuff.
