Ok I see what you mean... the difference between charity work or asking for donations, and being obliged to pay.
Steering this back a little on topic, I'm signed up because I don't feel it much of a burden and think of it as my contribution. But I still download the subs (and raws) for archiving which was why in this
poll thread I asked for an option of "both". This goes back to the need for hardcopies (or equivalently downloadable versions) mentioned in the interview.
