I thought it was actually a pretty good thread for the most part (especially considering the length), compared to how these topics usually tend do devolve. (That assessment most emphatically excludes the "contribution" of that fool and/or troll(/shill?) Unit something-or-other.) There were bad patches, no doubt, but at some points some people even seemed to at least try to come to a mutual understanding rather than just shout at each other.

Just ignore him. He's one of the most set-in-one's-ways-hard-like-concrete folks I've ever seen among anime fans, and apparently very proud of it too. (I knew him at one now defunct board and he hasn't changed one bit since then.) Asking him to change anything he's doing is quite futile, especially if he has it in for you for whatever reason. Well, I'm pretty sure that's no news for you, I'm just saying. You were right, of course, it gets very old indeed.
