That's actually a good question. I suppose it has to do with the fact that the readership of their main yuri manga magazine,
Comic Yurihime, is 70% female. Last year they launched a male-oriented yuri magazine,
Comic Yurihime S, but it's still too early to say how well it's selling among males. So if you think about it, it kinda makes sense for them to release the yuri novels as female-oriented. It's less risky.
Btw, thanks for the heads up about "." (period). Hope it really is a yuri novel; I love Kurogane Ken's artwork
