Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out Movie
We're getting new Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai anime
Announcement PV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0147iNxRma4 From ANN's article, it looks like it's adapting 8th and 9th novels https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...novels/.190112 |
Finally! The return of our favorite Rascal, Best Girl Mai, and the other troubled young ladies Sakuta has to deal with because of Adolescence Syndrome .
Looks like it's going to deal with Kaede going back to school and...a young Mai? Does Mai get de-aged somehow :eyebrow:? |
This was one oif my favorite series, glad is coming back.
|
I was hyped for this series initially, but a hype died off with time so I still have not watched the movie. They will adapt 2 volumes this time so it may be another movie or OVA series, considering the TV adapted 5 volumes and the movie like another 2.
|
Honestly I didn't even think to hope for another season of this. The anime itself and the movie were both fantastic, but I was accepting of it just not coming back anytime soon. But I'm definitely excited. This series is really good and will be happy to have the wonderful Mai back for another season!

As much as I liked the first season, the movie made me utterly furious. It would take a lot for me to have faith in this title again.

Mai with glasses and that hair braid is too powerful :eyespin:.

I have loads of respect for Mai and a decent amount for Kaede and Rio. But that movie killed any respect I had for Sakuta permanently. That movie had better let Mai wrap Sakuta around her little finger big time for what he did to her.

It's one of the most emotionally manipulative, manufactured melodrama, appease all angles garbage fests I've ever seen. Anyone who doesn't have the backbone to stick with their partner and chooses to die instead can rack off in my book. Forsaking family, friends and lover for one random...that is one of the most selfish, cowardly things I've ever seen in any creative medium. There is no noble sacrifice in that, even if the origins of this scenario are tragic. Any family or friends I've ever mentioned this scenario to have laughed and asked me if I'm serious/did someone actually write that. Anime friends with far more gumption than me were far angrier than I was after viewing it. Heck, the 40 year anime vet I know who got me to try the series, I warned him he would not like the movie. He watched it and now he regrets ever being invested in the title at all. If I made a list of top 10 male characters I despise the most, Sakuta is definitely on it. Probably top 5. All because of that damn first movie. Mai deserves to make him obey him for life for doing that to her and she still stuck with him. Sakuta doesn't deserve Mai after that. The early eps of the series, for sure. But not after that... And if you still like it/him after all that - so be it. It's your right. |

Honestly, Sakuta just feels like an inferior mirror of Tomoya from Clannad. Excessively helping others but never themselves. Making everyone like them and not realising it until it's way too late. But what I'll grant Tomoya is that no matter which arc you choose in the end, the guy learned the hard way the consequences his actions had and that in order to be worthy of someone he had to improve himself. I can't say I ever saw Sakuta do that in any significant way and he took his hill to die on way too far. As for the upcoming movie, hope the post-chuuni/rebooted Kaede gets some good treatment. |

Anime Expo will screen the movie on July 3rd
|
Author said in the 13th volume that things were entering the final arc. This movie covered the 8th and Knapsack Kid movie will cover the 9th.
|
So the Knapsack Kid key visual was...Sakuta encountering kid Mai? If both Mais end up in the same moment, that would be...amusing with whatever chaos ensues.
