Designs doesn't look like Sunrise Studio 8.

the character designs somehow reminds me of the style of idolmaster anime..

I still liked Sunshine despite its flaws, so I'll probably still watch this.

If it's going to be like the mobile game,

This one just has a different chara designer. I doubt they'll change the studio.

They look more like a PA Works series IMO

I don't know... I didn't enjoy sunshine as much as the first one and the plot similarities killed it a bit for me. We'll see, but I'm at last out from idol hell so maybe I'll skip it so I don't fall back onto it ;)

more love live is welcome and loved by me.

I don't c<re much aobut the plot, it's the characters that make or break love live for me; I'd pass on sunshine but I really liked the kurosawa sisters and yohane, for the first season it was maki and nico.

This anime is gonna be epic proportions if they have the same story writers, and they're gonna save a school (for two more seasons) again. /just kidding

So first episode is out and I gotta say: some of the animation, background and effects work by Sunrise on this is absolutely stunning. Top tier stuff! On the other hand I'm still not sold on the character art. Looks a bit oversimplified to me. Makes it hard to immediately make out the characters from their faces alone (which I never felt was a problem in previous LL or in the game strangely enough).

Anyway it's refreshing to have a LL season that's NOT about saving the school for a change. I'm pretty sure this will be a rather refreshing show given how, in the game, the Nijigasaki club is all about the girls achieving their idol status individually instead of as a group. They are not muse or aquors and that's good.

Also, plenty of yuribaiting in that first episode. My yurivision is on full blast :heh:

When the first Nijigaku album, TOKIMEKI Runners, came out back in 2018, Karin's Starlight was the song that initially got me interested in the Nijigasaki girls. But it was ultimately Setsuna's CHASE! that would drag me into the lower levels of idol hell! :heh:

Episode 1 encapsulated everything I love about CHASE! - the instrumentals, the vocals, the choreo (Setsuna Kick!), and the Setsuna Shout!

Ayumu's Dream with You in this ep was really great too!

I'm definitely interested to see how this all pans out, especially Ayumu and Yuu's friendship, and Ayumu's growth as a school idol.

EDIT: Some other tidbits from EP1 I forgot to write about:

• Setsuna performs CHASE! on the large staircase at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, which is also where Nijigasaki High School Idol Club's seiyuus held their first live performance and release event for their 1st album, TOKIMEKI Runners, in November 2018. (source)
• You can also see a small part of the Unicorn Gundam statue that is in front of said stairs, plus a brief cameo of the Gundam Cafe.
• The Setsuna Shout part in CHASE! has been done at the IRL live concerts a few times now. Tomori Kusunoki, Setsuna's VA has mentioned getting inspired to do so by Aika Kobayashi (Yoshiko's VA), likely in reference to in this unstable world when it was performed at Aqours 3rd Live.
• Yume e no Ippo (Ayumu's solo song on the TOKIMEKI Runners album) plays as a ringtone on Yu's cellphone.
• A plush of Sasuke (Ayumu's pet snake in the SIFAS Famitsu 4koma) can be seen in Ayumu's room. Sasuke plushes were also part of official merchandise for Niji's 2nd live.
• The voice actors for side characters shown this episode:
  • The teacher for Yu's class: Anna Mugiho, who also played the Alpacas in the SIP anime, and Shiitake in the Sunshine anime.
  • The Nagashi Somen Club member: Sayumi Suzushiro
  • The Drama Club captain: Momoyo Koyama, perhaps most well known for also playing Karen Aijo in Revue Starlight.
  • Tomomi Mineuchi is also credited as well.

Well, they sure went all out with the visuals for this one. Such a farcry from the creepy dolls people were subjected to in season one.

Looking forward to more fun times and yuri goggles overload. And some music too, I guess.

I'm glad there won't be drama with yu wanting to become school idol but can't for X reason. She will just stay in manager role, I don't know what to feel about a main character outside the main group but for now I like yu.
